Let us assume for a moment that the Presidency correctly calculated that Governor Adeleke could deliver Osun State for President Tinubu in 2027, and that Adeleke had genuinely pledged his full support for the President’s reelection. Why, then, would the Presidency risk disturbing that political equilibrium by being seen to support another candidate whose ability to deliver Osun is less certain, irrespective of party affiliation? From a purely strategic standpoint, wouldn’t maintaining an arrangement that already appears capable of delivering the desired presidential outcome be the safer political calculation?
