Another first for automated mobility in Europe!

We’re proud to announce the launch of Europe’s first RDW-approved full-size SAE Level-4 automated airport bus service, operated with the Karsan Autonomous e-ATAK automated by ADASTEC’s https://t.co/CV9NOraDkW platform.

Starting on August 1, passengers traveling to Rotterdam The Hague Airport will experience a new level of safe, accessible, and sustainable mobility between Meijersplein Metro Station and the airport terminal.

This milestone marks the first time SAE Level-4 automated buses are entering daily airport operations on open public roads in Europe. Each vehicle accommodates passengers with luggage, offers full wheelchair accessibility, and operates seamlessly in mixed traffic and dynamic airport environments.

This achievement is the result of close collaboration with our valued partners: Karsan Automotive, RDW, DAM Shuttles, RET, the Municipality of Rotterdam, Rotterdam The Hague Airport, and the Metropoolregio Rotterdam Den Haag (MRDH)

Automated Public Transportation Begins in Sweden 🇸🇪

The Karsan Autonomous e-ATAK, automated by ADASTEC’s SAE Level-4 automated driving software platform, is now in operation, carrying passengers through the heart of the city in Gothenburg. 🇸🇪

The launch event was met with great interest. Throughout the program, project partners underlined how automated public transportation is transforming mobility. Following the presentations from project partners, all participants were invited to take part in the demonstration ride.

During the demonstration, the Karsan Autonomous e-ATAK, automated by ADASTEC, drove on open public roads along a 4-km route with seven stops, connecting Gothenburg Central Station and Liseberg Station. This showcase turned advanced mobility into a first-hand automated public transport experience for passengers.

Europe's First On-Demand Automated Bus is coming to Madrid, Spain! 🇪🇸

In 2026, the Karsan Autonomous e-ATAK, automated by ADASTEC, will begin operating in Leganés as Europe's first SAE Level-4 automated, on-demand bus service. Through a dedicated app, passengers will be able to request a ride in real time, making daily mobility smarter, more sustainable, and designed around people.

This project shows that advanced technology can drive access, bringing reliable, sustainable public transportation to more communities. We are proud to join forces with Grupo Ruiz, @KarsanTR , the Regional Transport Consortium of the Comunidad de Madrid, the General Directorate of Transport of the Comunidad de Madrid, the Ayuntamiento de Leganés, and AppliedAutonomy to make this vision real.

The on-demand automated bus service will begin operation in 2026. As a first phase, it will be operating within Madrid’s Leganés Technology Park, covering an 11-kilometer route with 5–6 stops connecting key points across the park.

The Karsan Autonomous e-ATAK, automated by ADASTEC, will provide Gothenburg’s first automated public transport service, beginning passenger operations on open public roads.
