While the murder of Henry Nowak garnered widespread media attention and public sympathy, many still question the lack of similar momentum surrounding the case of Saudi student Mohammed Al-Qasim, who was unjustly and treacherously killed in the prime of his life, carrying dreams and aspirations that fate did not allow him to fulfill.
The case of Saudi student Mohammed Al-Qasim has been awaiting justice for over 10 months. We continue to face repeated postponements in the trial proceedings. After the family waited months, hoping for a hearing on June 3rd, they were shocked by yet another postponement, a scene that only intensifies the pain and prolongs the wait for justice. Is this continuous postponement justified by a loss of hope in the trial and the acquittal of the killer, who poses a danger to society? Or is there another explanation?
Both victims lost their lives tragically, and both deserve justice and fairness. The demand for justice is not linked to the victim's nationality, religion, or background; it is a fundamental human right for every victim of injustice. We hope that justice will take its full course, that those responsible for this crime will be held accountable, and that Mohammed Al-Qassem and his family will receive the redress they deserve, in accordance with the values of justice and fairness.
