When I joined a trading firm ten years ago or so, they did not give me any target to begin with. And I ended up making 4x of what I was supposed to make with 9 consecutive profitable months.

Seeing this, they set targets. I lost money in 3 out of the next 6 months, and struggled to break even :)

Personal opinion, I could be wrong here. So here goes: Trading with a target in mind, or looking at it as a stream of regular income can be a bad idea. I feel the best results in trading are achieved when you are not really looking for some number target. It is achieved when you keep an open mind, and make the best of an opportunity that comes your way without any desire for a particular return.
