"The future of surgery is bright"
Join the Global Surgery Research Workshop this Saturday at University of Rwanda Huye Campus.
You are going to meet experts, learn ongoing research and Explore global surgery.
Today, VC Prof. @mdkayihura officiated the Global Surgery Research Hub, themed “Improving Surgical Care through Evidence-based Practice.” He emphasized that the event aligns with the University of Rwanda's core mission to conduct research that directly impacts the community. Kayihura praised and encouraged the spirit of teamwork, not only in research but also in clinical work, which he believes should be a defining characteristic of the University of Rwanda.
This annual event brought together surgical experts, policymakers, and researchers to discuss research evidence. It focuses on how evidence-based practice can enhance surgical care and improve patient outcomes both in #Rwanda and internationally.
Since 2011, CARTA has enrolled 245 multidisciplinary fellows, empowering them to become research leaders who can address Africa's pressing challenges.

Panel Update: Dr. JC Allen Ingabire presents the CHEETAH trial, targeting Surgical Site Infections (SSI) in low- and middle-income countries. He explained the simple intervention of using separate sterile gloves and instruments during wound closure, potentially reducing SSI and improving surgical outcomes.
Key highlight:
Drawing from various research findings and our project outcomes, there has been a toolkit developed for the Rwandan surgical community. This will guide care delivery during potential future pandemics, ensuring those in need of surgical services are effectively catered for.
