Kenya and Italy continue to strengthen cooperation on labour mobility as a means of creating safe, orderly, and mutually beneficial pathways for employment. The partnership is informed by Italy’s evolving labour market needs, particularly in sectors experiencing workforce shortages, and Kenya’s growing pool of skilled, qualified, and globally competitive workers.
Through structured labour mobility arrangements, both countries stand to benefit from enhanced skills matching, knowledge exchange, and increased opportunities for decent work.

The meeting reaffirmed the strong, long-standing cordial relations between Kenya and Italy and their shared commitment to promoting mutually beneficial partnership and prosperity.

Kenya and Canada are currently exploring a structured Labour Mobility Framework to facilitate safe, orderly, regular, and ethical labour migration between the two countries. The collaboration is anchored on Kenya’s youthful, skilled workforce and Canada’s growing labour market needs driven by demographic changes and workforce shortages.
Both Governments are also working closely to address migration-related fraud, strengthen the protection of migrant workers’ rights and welfare, and promote transparent, regulated, and ethical recruitment processes.

@Diaspora_KE Principal Secretary, Ms. @roselinenjogu, today held a courtesy meeting with Amb. Dr. Ludwig Jung, Germany’s Ambassador for Migration Cooperation.
The meeting served as an introductory engagement with the newly-appointed Ambassador and provided an opportunity to review progress since the signing of the Kenya–Germany Labour Mobility Partnership and the establishment of the Joint Implementation Committee.
Discussions underscored key milestones achieved to date and emphasized the need for sustained diplomatic engagement and coordinated implementation to deliver sustainable, mutually beneficial outcomes for both countries.
Amb. Jung, joined by Mr. Alexander Fierley, Deputy Head of Mission at the German Embassy in Kenya, and Ms. Sophie Westhof, Desk Officer for the Middle East and North Africa at the German Federal Foreign Office, commended the State Department for Diaspora Affairs for its work implementing the Agreement, particularly its focus on ethical recruitment, worker protection, and raising public awareness of legal migration pathways.
He also acknowledged the Kenyan diaspora in Germany for its constructive role in fostering integration and strengthening people-to-people ties.
The meeting explored opportunities to expand cooperation between Kenya and Germany into additional sectors, including engineering, ICT, construction,hospitality, among others.

Ms. Irene Karari- @ikarari, Director of the Skills and Expertise Division at @Diaspora_KE, represented Principal Secretary Ms. @roselinenjogu at the European Ageing Network (EAN) General Assembly 2026 in Naples, Italy.
Director Karari advocated for the responsible recruitment of skilled Kenyan care workers to address staff shortages in Europe's long-term care sector, highlighting Kenya's skilled and talented healthcare workforce.
The EAN Assembly convened over 80 members from the Long-Term Care (LTC) sector across 30 European countries, serving millions of advanced age persons. Discussions centered on the future of long-term care, including funding, workforce challenges, digitalization, and the continents' policy developments.
Ms. Karari presented Kenya's partnership proposal;a structured, ethical government-to-government and government-to-business recruitment framework to build a sustainable pipeline of qualified care workers for Europe's growing LTC needs.
