We should encourage children to be children, instead of indoctrinating them into commodification culture. I would argue that the drive to discard the ability to prize sentimental value over money is driving a lot of the problems in society, especially the loneliness and cynicism.
When I was little, one of my favorite things to do was take my first edition gen 1 Pokemon cards out around the neighborhood and throw them on the ground to pretend I was a real trainer throwing out a Pokeball.
I took good care of my cards because they were my friends, & if you don’t see how that’s the entire point of the hobby I don’t know what to do with you.
I fear that the capacity for imagination, adventure, and friendship with Pokemon is being lost. Wasn’t that always the point?
This is reflected upon once more in the Delta Episode, as Zinnia asks the player whether they are motivated by truth…and whether the player’s truth is an honest reflection of what is real.
A question for the ages, but more specifically this one. Right here. Right now.
The story of Unova is the story of N’s struggle between his ideals and the lies instilled in him by Ghetsis.
In the end, it becomes clear that the true choice was never about what is true and what is ideal. Rather, the most powerful choice has always been between love and greed.
Today heralds 15-years since the release of Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version in Europe! ⚫⚪
Our first visit to the Unova region, filled with a new generation of Pokémon, and an exciting adventure.
