215 HOUSE MEMBERS ENDORSE IMPEACHMENT COMPLAINT AGAINST SARA

The House of Representatives has officially impeached Vice President Sara Duterte, with 215 members endorsing the fourth impeachment complaint against her.

The complaint cited betrayal of public trust, culpable violation of the Constitution, and other high crimes as the grounds for impeachment.

With the required number of signatures obtained, committee proceedings will be bypassed, and the case will proceed directly to trial in the Senate. A two-thirds vote in the Senate, equivalent to 16 senators, is needed for a conviction that could result in her removal from office.

This marks the first impeachment attempt against a sitting vice president, the country's second-highest official.
