The film tells the extraordinary story of S. At that critical moment, Venkitaramanan displayed extraordinary courage,conviction & commitment.He took difficult decisions,worked quietly behind the scenes & placed the country above his position and personal reputation.
The film also takes us back to the political instability of 1991.Rajiv Gandhi’s Congress withdrew support from PM Chandra Shekhar’s minority govt & pushed the country into further uncertainty at the worst possible moment.

Thank God Rajiv Gandhi was not there in that decisive moment & Narasimha Rao became Prime Minister. PM Rao took bold decisions,dismantled the Licence Raj, opened India’s economy & rescued the country from an economic disaster.But what did PM Rao receive in return from the Sonia Gandhi led Congress?Humiliation and a systematic attempt to erase his legacy.

When PM Rao died in 2004, his funeral carriage was stopped outside the gates of the Congress headquarters. The body of a former Prime Minister and former Congress President was not even allowed inside his own party office.His family wanted his cremation to take place in Delhi, his karmabhoomi. Instead, they were pressured to take his body to Hyderabad.

For the next ten years, the Sonia Gandhi controlled Congress government did not even build a proper memorial for him in Delhi.Why was PM Rao treated this way?
Because after Rajiv Gandhi’s death, he governed as the Prime Minister of India, not as a puppet of the Gandhi family.

The man who rescued India was disowned and humiliated by his own party.History, however, delivered its verdict.

In 2015, the Modi government finally built a memorial for P. V. Narasimha Rao in Delhi. In 2024, PM Modi’s government honoured him with the Bharat Ratna.

Sonia Gandhi’s Congress tried to erase PM Rao. PM Modi remembered him & gave him the respect he always deserved.
