A most welcome gift from a dear friend and colleague. Great to see that our conversations in Spoleto in 2022 eventually evolved into this substantial monograph
@mikeaztec28 Indeed! I have dealt with some aspects of Justinian’s final decade—especially internal and external political and military developments—as part of my PhD thesis on Justinian’s successors, which I am about to submit. I hope to develop some of this material further after the PhD
A reliable source tells me that this book by @DrPhilipWood and me is now out. Buy and read it for the DL on Christian Arabic historiography, relics of Sasanian literature, and the transition from Late Antiquity to the early Umayyad era. Some spiritually uplifting biographies of Syriac- and Persian-speaking saints also. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
I know this is fan poster
