An England fan has sacrificed the £10,000 he saved for a house deposit — to spend it on taking his grandad on a dream World Cup trip.❤️⚽✈️
Jacob Allmendinger, from North Ferriby, East Yorkshire, saved for his house deposit for five years but made the call to postpone getting on the property ladder for the World Cup trip instead.
Jacob, 21, said he has "no regrets" spending his life savings on the trip of a lifetime with grandad Geoff Golliker, 80.🙌
Jacob saved for five years with the dream of one day owning a home. But he decided to delay getting on the property ladder and is due to fly out to the US with his grandad later this week.
Jacob said: "I can always make money back, I'm at the age where I can afford to miss out on a house for two or three years. But I won't ever get to go to the World Cup with my grandad again."❤️
The pair, from North Ferriby, East Yorkshire, fly out on Friday and are planning a whirlwind tour of North America centred around England's World Cup campaign.
Jacob added: "Inviting my grandad was a no-brainer. He agreed straight away."
The pair will watch England's clash with Panama and hope to follow the Three Lions through the tournament should they progress.
Jacob, who started following Hull City with Geoff as a youngster, said football has become even more important to them since he lost his grandmother in 2020.
He said: "Since my grandma passed, football has been very important for our relationship. It has definitely strengthened our relationship."
The devoted grandson said the pair's bond goes far beyond football. He said: "We get on like a house on fire.
"We're more best mates than grandad and grandson."
I now understand the American dream.
I came to the World Cup because I was offered a last minute ticket to watch England play Croatia in Dallas and I started documenting my journey.
The content went viral on social media. So much so, the President of the United States saw it himself.
I was invited to attend the grand opening of the great American state fair for freedom 250 and halfway through Donald Trumps speech, I was told to come and wait back stage for a photograph.
This sort of thing could only happen in America.
As an Englishman I never really understood what America has to make it “the land of opportunity”
But results speak for themselves.
Dear World Cup Guests,
Thank you for sharing your experiences with us online, we are so happy you're here, getting to see all the different parts of America and meeting new friends.
I would however on behalf of all of us normal, kind, hard working and helpful Americans, like to apologize for the few who insist on trying to rain on your joy in the comments and replies. We know they're annoying and ridiculous, just ignore them. They're miserable fun suckers and usually beyond help.
The vast majority of us are having a blast traveling around the country with you! If we can help in anyway please don't hesitate to ask!
Keep eating, drinking, singing and chanting!
Love,
All 50 of the United States 🇺🇸
Elizabeth Warren lives in one of America’s wealthiest towns—yet thousands of children there go hungry.
Her wealth could feed every hungry child there for 5 years and eradicate local childhood hunger.
@EQuinones6310 All great.
Now if we could just sort out the bread and get rid of Corn Syrup. And have more in the cheese section than 7 different brands of “cheddar” 🤣
