Israelis are amazing. A bunch of them on a plane. They hear a ruckus in the cockpit, smash the door open, save the captain who has been stabbed by the co-pilot, subdue and neutralize him, then they commandeer the plane and land it. Everyone survives. Name any other nation in the world that produces the kind of people capable of pulling this off.

One thing that became very clear this weekend: the All Blacks cannot live with the Springboks at set-piece.

At scrum time, they repeatedly went to ground and tried to take the contest away. At lineout time, they were shifting across, throwing skew and doing everything possible to disrupt or neutralise one of South Africa’s biggest strengths.

Thankfully, Eben Etzebeth was immense and ended up dominating their lineout as well as ours.

It’s difficult to believe this isn’t coached. If you can’t compete with South Africa’s set-piece, the next best option is to manipulate it, create instability and try to remove it from the game altogether.

Hopefully the refereeing team are paying close attention to the All Blacks’ tactics at both scrum and lineout time this week.

If they want to beat the Springboks, they should have to compete with them, not cheat their way out of the contest.
