This is Fatima.

We first met in Abuja in 2022, when Udiri’s founder accepted an invitation to teach paper bead making to internally displaced people and refugees.

At the end of the workshop, Fatima asked a simple question: could we help carry the traditional Ula caps she and the other women made into another world?

We carried that question with us.

Years later, Fatima stands here in her own Ula craft, alongside Austin Lifu — not outside the Udiri story, but at the heart of it.

Some connections begin with an object.
Others begin with a promise.

Meet Ladi, a courageous woman displaced by Boko Haram, and Shuri, a refugee from Cameroon. Through Udiri’s buyback program, they found healing in craft. Today, they stand proudly as models, wearing jewelry made from beads they hand-rolled themselves—symbols of their journey, strength, and artistry.
