Staggering military spending while austerity measures impoverish young people who are already facing rising unemployment. But military service will be well paid.
Germany is pushing young people into the military through manufactured poverty.
@derJamesJackson Well, that square was not made for people. It was made so that reactionary blockheads in climatized lounges can wank over an idealized Prussian past that they only have the most infantile-bourgeois understanding of.
And this monstrosity is supported by that same Western establishment that bangs on about antisemitism day and night, even where it is nowhere to be see (i.e., legitimate criticism of the Israeli regime). The hypocrisy is just off the scale.
The two leaders walk up the steps toward the Great Hall of the People, and midway up the staircase, President Xi took a moment to explain the design of People’s Square to his guest, President Trump.
What's unique about Estonia during WWII? Almost all the Jews in Estonia were murdered by Estonians, with the Germans playing a minimal role. Estonians were so eager to kill Jews that the Einsatzgruppen were deemed unnecessary. Estonia was also the first country to be declared Judenfrei at the Wannsee Conference! 🫠 #Europeanvalues
I was born in Calcutta, West Bengal, ten years before the Left Front first came to power, and then for 34 years the Left ruled in West Bengal. The governments conducted agrarian reform: land redistribution, tenant registration, and decentralisation of power and revenue. By the 1990s, the Left had a hard time managing the growing unemployment, a problem mobilised by the Right to delegitimise the Left (our own errors in Singur and Nandigram compounded the attacks). Since 2011, when the Left was defeated, we have had a hard time recovering our feet in society and therefore in prevailing in the elections. Money power, fraud, and violence has defined the situation in West Bengal, which has hurt us deeply. Our comrades, however, have been unrelenting, bravely fighting to build new social fronts and new political platforms, marching from one village to the next, confronting the violent neo-fascists, holding up the red flag.
We hope that in West Bengal the Left will find its way back to the legislature through the support of the people for our work to build the struggles. The second phase of the elections is on 29 April. Results will come on 4 May for the 294 seats. So many dear comrades, old friends, are running for election, too many to name here. I hope many of them prevail against all the pressures against them.

One notable thing I’m picking up about the AI push in China that seems to be overlooked by western observers is that AI development isn’t framed as about AI itself so much as “intelligentization” of systems across the board of which AI is just a prominent (or the primary) tool.
It’s interesting that when Iran is capable of placing sanctions on Europeans or Americans that we don’t suddenly talk about whether or not European human rights abuses warrant said sanctions, we merely talk about the impact of them.
it’s hilarious how the Trump administration adopted the whole “might is right” schtick
