The man who killed a fighter from Khabib's team just walked out of court free.

Magomedrasul Mutaev was a 21 year old light heavyweight on Khabib's team and one of the top students of Khabib's late father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. He had one pro fight at AMC Fight Nights and a second one booked.

In January 2024, he was shot multiple times outside his home in Makhachkala, Dagestan. He died on the way to the hospital.

On Oct 13, a Makhachkala court found Nadyrkhan Kadirkhanov guilty of killing him "in a state of passion." Prosecutors said the motive was revenge for humiliation.

Reports differ on why he walked and are a little confusing:

The court didn't call it murder. It ruled it a killing "in a state of passion," a lighter charge in Russia with a 2-year time limit to prosecute. Even though it was considered revenge for humiliation. The shooting was January 2024, so that time ran out. His jail time was for the illegal gun, and his 2 years 8 months before trial counted at 1.5x, which covered it.
