One need only read the first chapter to understand the desease that is Americanism/Conservatism—a picking and choosing from the same fountain of liberalism. E.g.

IS it possible for the masses of people calmly and without petty jealousies to form judgments, to deal with the affairs of the country which cannot be mixed up with personal interests? Can they defend themselves from an external foe?

It is unthinkable, for a plan broken up into as many parts as there are heads in the mob, loses all homogeneity and thereby becomes unintelligible and impossible of execution.
