YJ was born and raised in korea. he is not american. he lived there for TWO years when he was 9 years old. he knows english very well, but he is not 100% fluent. a lot of kpop stans hold any idol that know a good amount of english to a higher standard than others. you wonโt even listen to native koreans explaining the situation so thereโs no point in trying to explain. you can interpret however you want, but stop pretending as if the word canโt have nuance only because you only view it in one way. YJ was raised in korea, surrounded by korean culture, slang and more. holding him to this high standard of โhe should know better!โ because he knows a fair amount of english is..? knowing english โ knowing all cultural differences and how a common phrase heโs known for years living in korea could be viewed as something terrible in other places.
