I like having a job. So consider this take to be drenched in cope.
But as of right now, I think that: coding being a relatively “easy” thing for AI to learn + the existence of many currently employed coders, implies that we’re a long way off from mass while collar disruption.
sort of funny that the left anti-YIMBYs do seem to understand supply and demand, they just fall on the “reduce demand” side instead of the “increase supply” side. There’s a lot of sentiment that amounts to “it’s morally evil to want to live in a place”
So much of California’s dysfunction is shielding home owners from the natural consequences of NIMBYism and shifting those costs onto young people and renters. If we force people into fire and flood zones that is very expensive to insure.
@lcwhitlock14 That is your opinion because we actually do know how many of his constituents can’t stand him. We found out in 2010, 2014, 2016, 2020, 2024, and 2026.
And it’s less than 50% 🤷♂️
@lcwhitlock14 If YOU don’t like him because YOU have a gripe with legalizing apartments or whatever, that’s cool, it’s a free country. But let’s not pretend that somehow everyday SFers haven’t gotten a voice. They’ve made their choice abundantly (😉) clear, in *spite* of the big money (Saikat)
@lcwhitlock14 This is a silly view of politics.
Oh no he changed laws?? That’s literally the job.
No input or regard for his constituents?? He was elected to BOS in 2010, reelected in 14, elected to SS in 16, reelected in 20 and 24 and now won this. His constituents seem on board w him
Every candidate in San Francisco who supported the Family Zoning Plan won by a landslide last night.
If it wasn't already clear, building more housing is popular.
YIMBYs are here to stay.
It's kind of crazy that we've gone from "raise the minimum wage to $12" to "raise the minimum wage to $15" to "raise the minimum wage to $20" without actually raising the minimum wage at all.
