I get what you’re trying to say, but you’ve basically reduced a whole field of science and lived experience to “clothes = gender", which is… impressively wrong.
Gender isn’t a Halloween costume, and nobody said a Zara haul turns you into a different sex. That’s a strawman you built, decorated, and are now arguing with.
Meanwhile, the actual point — that gender (identity, roles, expression) and sex (biological traits) aren’t the same thing — flew over your head like it paid rent.
You didn’t simplify the issue. You just oversimplified yourself.
The gag is not even in physiology do you see strict lines along the female and male sex with there being variations among sexual development. But these arguments typically come from people who don’t even know the difference between sex and gender so I’m wasting my damn breath.
The only values Jamaica can stand on is transphobia.
We will bend the knee to keep economically safe but the rights and dignity of queer people is not to be debated, is not up for discussion.
LGBT Jamaican learning their PM said fuck you in a budget speech is disrespectful af
“Man is a man. Woman is a woman.”
This isn’t just a statement, it’s an oversimplification of gender that erases the lives of transgender Jamaicans. Gender isn’t always binary, yet statements like this, repeated by public figures, reinforce stigma, justify exclusion, and put queer and trans people at risk. From Bruce Golding’s “not in my cabinet” to the recent use of anti-gay song “Chi-Chi Man” by Daryl Vaz on his campaign trail, such rhetoric shapes culture, policy, and safety.
Queer and trans Jamaicans are not new. We are not a trend. We are not imported. Our lives, identities, and contributions have always been part of our society.
So we have to ask… Who gets to belong - and at what cost?
So let me get this straight… y’all spent all this time shouting “biology only!” and now just realized that same logic also sidelines infertile women???
Oh. Oh wow. The plot twist wrote itself😭
Turns out reducing womanhood to reproduction was never the win you thought it was.
So toni never trans or a my recollection bad? It really be your own enuh, cause nuh badi never ask her nth.
Unasked for comments just like her boss. I guess she doesn’t want to be sidelined again.
Prime Minister say “Man a Man and Woman a woman” it’s not a LIE! Birth determines your sex (biologically), not how you feel when you wake up. You don’t have to agree, just have to understand social constructs and CULTURE…
