𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗠𝗢𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗗𝗔𝗬-𝗡𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗥𝗬 ☀️🌙
Even though the Philippines operates in a single time zone, sunrise varies significantly across the archipelago due to its vast east-to-west stretch. To illustrate this, here's an animation showing the shifting day-night boundary at 5:30 AM throughout the year.
Notice how, around the December Solstice, it's already daylight in parts of Mindanao while Luzon remains in darkness, and the opposite happens during other times of the year. One can also notice how the boundary becomes more aligned north-south around the time of the equinoxes in March and September.
This #SummerSolstice, though the variation is minimal, northeastern parts of Luzon experience a much earlier sunrise than those in the southwestern parts of the country, like Palawan and western Mindanao.
