We're getting abused. Where's the PUCO? Where are our elected representatives?

MORE CORRUPT OHIO STATE GOVERNMENT NONSENSE
Mike DeWine just appointed Bill Seitz (pictured below) and Pat Tiberi to lead a so-called βProperty Tax Reform Working Group.β
Letβs be clear: these are two dishonest, corrupt, political operatives.
Hereβs a reminder of just how corrupt BILL SEITZ is π
Ex-Ohio State Representative Bill Seitz, a Republican from Cincinnati, was involved in several controversies during his legislative career.
In January 2018, Seitz made remarks at a roast for the Ohio House Republican Caucus' Chief of Staff that were criticized as sexist and demeaning toward women legislators. He referred to former Rep. Diana Fessler as a "nutjob" and made off-color jokes about other legislators. These comments came shortly after mandatory sexual harassment training for House members. Seitz apologized, calling his remarks "ill-advised," but some colleagues called for his resignation. An internal investigation conducted by Taft Stettinius & Hollister, a firm where Seitz had been employed for over three decades, concluded he had not violated the House's sexual harassment policies. Critics, including the Toledo Blade, questioned the investigation's impartiality due to potential conflicts of interest.
During the investigation into the 2018 harassment allegations, it was reported that Taft Stettinius & Hollister's PAC donated $1,000 to Seitz's campaign fund in March 2018, raising questions about the propriety of such contributions during an active investigation.
Seitz was involved in legislative discussions surrounding House Bill 6, a controversial energy law that became the center of a federal investigation into corruption and bribery. While Seitz was not charged with any wrongdoing, his communications were reportedly intercepted by federal investigators during their probe.
Seitz consistently opposed efforts to eliminate the statute of limitations for suing over rape or child sexual abuse. Ohio law required victims of childhood sexual abuse to sue before turning 30 years old, and adults must have filed a lawsuit within as little as a year. Seitz's stance had been a point of contention among advocates for survivors seeking extended timeframes to pursue legal action.
And to add insult to injury, the minute Seitz was out of office he registered as a lobbyist here in Ohio.
And this is the guy DeWine thinks should βreformβ our property taxes?
Give me a break.
Long read but worth your time! From a FB post! ππ»
I may piss a few of you off by posting this. We can handle it one of two ways: discuss it like adults or you can unfriend me. Your choice. You have your opinion and I have mine. Before anyone gets their panties in a wad, I add that my ancestors came here from other countries, as did most everyone else's ancestors, and they learned the language and worked and never once did I hear any of them trash America. They became citizens, were proud to be one and some served in the military! I am nice to everyone and I have no problem with anyone coming here and making a good life for themselves and their family, BUT if you are coming here and expect us to become what you just came from, then thatβs not happening! Return and work on your country and make it better where you can be proud to live in it.
Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of AMERICA, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.
βIMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT.β
Take it or leave it. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans. This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.
We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language.
Most Americans believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools.
If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our "culture." We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us. This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this.
But once you are done complaining and whining about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great AMERICAN freedom,
"THE RIGHT TO LEAVE".
If you aren't happy here, then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country that accepted you.
NOTE:
IF we circulate this among ourselves, WE will find the courage to start speaking and voicing the same truths.
If you agree, please SEND THIS ON and as for those who disagree, move to a country that suits you and live there. "
THANK YOU! πΊπΈ

You may be sorry you asked the question. π€£
This is another shell game. It's a piecemeal patchwork of small changes that don't apply equally or holisticly. It's smoke & mirrors. It could actually be dangerous, making our already broken property tax system even worse. Here's why;
The billβs tax reductions (e.g., Sections 319.303, 319.304) are targeted and conditional, applying only to specific properties (qualifying nonbusiness/business properties in reappraisal years or homesteads with exemptions). Broad-based relief for all property owners is absent, which does not address widespread concerns about rising property tax burdens.
The bill adds layers of complexity to an already intricate property tax system (e.g., new calculations for credit factors, adjustments for carryover properties, and multiple exemption criteria). It's 170 pages. True reform would streamline tax calculations and make the system more transparent and predictable for taxpayers.
While Section 4 expresses intent to disallow most taxes within the ten-mill limitation starting in 2025 (except for townships), the bill does not fundamentally alter the constitutional framework (Article XII, Section 2) that caps unvoted levies. This is a missed opportunity to overhaul a system that often leads to voter fatigue from frequent levy requests.
The reductions under Section 319.303 are temporary (three years post-reappraisal) and depend on specific conditions (floor tax revenue exceeding indexed revenue). This does not provide long-term, structural relief, leaving taxpayers vulnerable to future tax increases after reappraisals.
Ohioβs heavy reliance on property taxes for school funding remains unaddressed. While Section 5748.09 allows combined income/property tax levies, it does not reduce dependence on property taxes or propose alternative funding mechanisms (e.g., increased state funding). Real reform would shift school funding away from local property taxes.
The bill does not impose a hard cap on property tax increases or millage rates, which many taxpayers and advocacy groups consider essential for reform. The adjustments under Section 319.301 aim to stabilize revenues but do not prevent significant tax hikes due to rising property valuations.
Changes to local government fund apportionment (Sections 5747.51, 5747.53) allow alternative formulas but require approval from multiple entities, which favors larger municipalities or counties over smaller subdivisions. This does not equitably address funding needs across diverse communities.
The bill focuses on specific tax adjustments and exemptions rather than a holistic approach to reducing overall taxpayer burden (e.g., combining property, sales, and income tax reforms). Piecemeal changes do not constitute transformative reform.
One of my conclusions is that this is an attempt to get us to stop collecting signatures for the ballot initiative. When that initiative succeeds, people like David will have to do their jobs, and whoever is pulling their strings won't be happy. And thus David won't be happy, will be exposed, and will likely not be reelected. That will make David very sad. π’
I believe he's a fraud. His ability to be disingenuous and often dishonest about these bills tells me I wouldn't want him in a foxhole behind me as the enemy was coming over the hedgerows.
@mpukita Can you elaborate a little Mark? I know there is a petition circulating to abolish property taxes, yes, I signed it. Is this a Hail Mary to right a wrong and keep status quo?
MEET CHUCK SCHUMER
Chuck Schumer is yet another Ivy League graduate who's never held a job in the private sector, has never created a job, had to make a payroll, or face an employee performance review. He's never created any products, never delivered any services, and never supported himself. He's been a leech off taxpayers his entire adult life.
He went to Harvard for both his undergraduate and law degrees. That's where they teach you how to self-anoint yourself as an elite, look down on other Americans, and do whatever you can to exert power and control over them.
We have these clowns who are career politicians, who have never had the experiences of regular Americans, "leading" us. There is something pathological about these people. They actually believe they deserve to be in the positions they are in and are better than us. Chuck Schumer is the epitome of this arrogance and mental illness.
