Apple’s M-series chips can already go toe-to-toe with dedicated GPUs, so the hardware piece isn’t really the problem anymore. Add in the App Store and Apple Arcade, and you’re looking at instant access to over a billion devices — no factories to build, no shipping headaches, none of the supply chain mess Sony and Microsoft constantly deal with. And with Vision Pro and AR/VR in the mix, Apple could potentially skip the whole console war altogether.
That said, two big gaps remain: credibility and content. You can’t just buy your way into gamers’ trust — PlayStation and Xbox earned that over decades with franchises people actually grew up loving. Apple’s going to need real studio partnerships, not just the occasional port (looking at you, Resident Evil and Death Stranding). They’ll also need an actual gaming-focused controller and a UX that feels built for gamers, not bolted on.
At the end of the day, if Sony and Microsoft keep leaning into digital greed instead of putting players first, they’re basically clearing the runway for Apple. All Apple has to do is actually show up.

Pspspspsps @PlayStation@Sony 🐈 come out of your den, we know you’re in there. We just wanna talk. No rush, take your time… we’ll just be here. Forever. Watching. 👀

You’re so irrelevant, the James Webb Telescope accidentally pointed at your future and just sent back a photo of nothing — and scientists called it “refreshingly accurate.”
The universe has been expanding for 13.8 billion years specifically to get away from you. Every galaxy is redshifting — that’s not physics, that’s a restraining order.
Andromeda is on a collision course with the Milky Way just so it can swing by and personally laugh at you before leaving again.
You’re the type of person neutron stars look at and think, “Damn, glad I collapsed under my own weight instead of turning into THAT.”
Even the Voyager probe — launched in 1977, billions of miles away with no fuel — is still moving faster than your progress in life. It has no engine. You have no excuse.
Light takes 100,000 years to cross the Milky Way, and it still made it before you made something of yourself.
Somewhere, on a pale blue dot, in a suburb of a mediocre galaxy, you exist — and the cosmos has simply chosen not to comment.
Hey @Sony@PlayStation@Xbox,
Why are we still paying full price for digital games in 2026? Physical copies come with manufacturing, distribution, packaging, and retail costs — yet digital versions (which eliminate almost all of those) often cost the same or more.
If the goal is to go fully digital to cut costs, those savings should be passed on to players. Charging the same (or higher) while saving massively on production just feels like pure greed. And if server/storage costs are that high, maybe digital shouldn’t be pushed so aggressively.
Players deserve better pricing transparency. What do you think?

So PlayStation plans to end physical releases in 2028. Why would I pay full price for a game that’s three or five years old when the physical version costs less, while the digital store charges the full amount? Buying a physical copy lets me play anytime, unlike the digital version—one day you might wake up to find much of your library gone because PlayStation’s license agreements with certain studios ended. It’s high time gamers across the platform unite and boycott this digital issue everywhere, or we’ll face pricing like on streaming platforms: no choice, prices can rise anytime, and zero control over your library. From PlayStation offering boundless possibilities to PlayStation presenting defined boundaries

Will this world accept those who haven't preordered GTA VI and are still on PS4 grinding GTA 5?
In my view, GTA VI may not match the enduring success of GTA 5 or its lasting cultural influence on gaming.
