What happened at Sheikh Ibrahim Jalo Jalingo’s mosque during Jumu’ah prayer was deeply disappointing.

Worshippers walking out and allegedly attempting to pull the cleric down from the pulpit because he expressed support for President Tinubu’s re-election was unacceptable.

Equally, the Friday sermon should not be turned into a political campaign platform.

Disagreement is not a justification for disrespect or confrontation. Those who disagree with a cleric’s political views should respectfully disregard them.

Let us protect the sanctity of our mosques and respect our Islamic scholars.
