For a club that claims Barcelona are living rent-free off Real Madrid, the obsession often feels the other way around.
Two seasons without a trophy.
A fanbase demanding answers.
And Florentino Pérez is still revisiting Barcelona controversies instead of talking about how Madrid get back to the top.
Very telling.
After a successful loan spell at Atlético Madrid, Chelsea made Thibaut Courtois their first choice goalkeeper. After four seasons as Chelsea’s number one, Real Madrid made contact with the player without the club’s permission.
Chelsea initially refused to sell, but Courtois pushed for the move by missing training and distancing himself from the team to force an exit. In the end, Chelsea had no choice but to negotiate, and he eventually joined Real Madrid.
Yet when Barcelona are reported to be speaking with Julián Álvarez’s agent to understand the possibility of a transfer, it suddenly becomes a problem for everyone.
People are quick to condemn Barcelona’s approach for exploring the Álvarez situation, even though many clubs have done similar or worse in the past.
We are not a small club, and it is normal that a player given the opportunity to play for Barcelona would at least consider it.
Atleti did the exact same thing with countless players & clubs who are "smaller" than them. Thats how football works. You are below us in the food chain, same way someone like Villarreal or Osasuna is below you. Not Barça's fault that Alvarez sees your club as a stepping stone.
I don’t think people realise the influence alexia had on women’s football. It goes beyond ability and trophies, she started and new era for the club by herself and she’ll forever be remembered as one of the most influential people in the world.
🚨🗣️ 𝗡𝗘𝗪: Guardiola: "How do you compare this farewell to when you left Barça? Similar. But sorry... the love I have for my Barcelona is special. I was a ballboy there. I am a Barça fan. They taught me EVERYTHING."
