Are You Sometimes Unsure If People Like You? Why It Matters and What You Can Do About It + Universal Non-Verbal Cues To Make Lasting Connections
When I first arrived in the United States as a refugee kid, I didn’t speak the language, and I had no idea how to fit in. I remember feeling so lost. Being a poor refugee certainly didn’t give me a pass to the cool kids' club, so I was often left out. One of my more hurtful memories as a new kid was when our whole class went to a theme park on an end-of-year trip. I hung out with some of my favorite adults and had a great day. However, at the end of the day on the way back to the buses, I saw the popular girls of my class in one big group and when they saw me, they froze and quickly ran away. “Wait, did they all just run away like they’ve been trying to avoid me?” It’s not paranoia when it’s true. Ouch!
The harsh reality is that when you’re new to a place—especially a place where you don’t look or speak a certain way—it’s easy to feel invisible. I was disregarded not based on my character or my capabilities; but based purely on the surface. How I looked, how I carried myself, and how I communicated—or didn’t communicate—was the first thing others noticed.
I want to be very clear here: I’m not bitter about that experience. In fact, as I grew up in the same grade level for years, playing on the same sports teams and getting familiar with everyone, things equalized. These experiences as an outsider, however, remind me of the importance of impressions and how to be more intentional in them when we have the ability to do so.
I look back on all my experiences with gratitude because they gave me a deep understanding of something that has become central to my work today: the power of how we present ourselves. And not just our outer appearance but also the way we show up in the world with our energy, our communication, and our authenticity.

Do the thing!!!
DEAR ABBY: I am a 36-year-old college dropout whose lifelong ambition was to be a physician. I have a very good job selling pharmaceutical supplies, but my heart is still in the practice of medicine. I do volunteer work at the local hospital on my time off, and people tell me I would have made a wonderful doctor.
If I go back to college and get my degree, then go to medical school, do my internship and finally get into the actual practice of medicine, it will take me seven years!
But, Abby, in seven years I will be 43 years old. What do you think? -- UNFULFILLED IN PHILLY
DEAR UNFULFILLED: And how old will you be in seven years if you don't go to medical school?

Took some time by the fire to watch the new Netflix, “Buy Now: The Shopping Conspiracy”.
It’s definitely an eye-opening documentary that pulls back the curtain on the powerful tactics used to make consumers buy without thinking. It explores how companies use psychology, scarcity, and urgency to manipulate us while fueling the endless cycle of overconsumption.
What struck me most was how effectively fast fashion plays on our emotions. I find it evil.
It’s not just about ethics and sustainability; it’s about reclaiming control over choice.
Highly recommend it for anyone looking to rethink their relationship with clothing and dive deeper into the psychology behind fast fashion.

dig the new Casatlantic lookbook. the brand is inspired by the clothes the brand owner's grandpa wore in Morocco during the 1940s and 50s (high waisted military trousers, retro knits, two pocket sport shirts, etc). friends tel me they love the high rise chinos
Want to hear a scary tale? There’s one coming November 20th: Netflix original documentary: “Buy Now: The Shopping Conspiracy”
I can’t wait to watch this and to have an honest discussion with other sustainability conscious writers around the topic. We’re living in a nightmare of our own doing.

I’m Tatyana, and I own The Image Architect. My publication is called “Light Loves Color” because I think COLOR is magical and has been forgotten by the fashion industry.
Most style advice out there is either too safe or stuck in a cycle of revolving trends that leave you looking like everyone else. You don’t need another “10 must-have pieces for the season” list, and you definitely don’t need the fashion industry telling you what you should wear. (P.S. They’re just trying to sell clothes on FOMO and emotions.)
You deserve more. You deserve a style that speaks to who you are, not what someone else wants you to be. That’s a lot harder to find in today’s noisy fashion landscape than it should be.
But if you think we’ve somehow evolved past the psychological subconscious of everyone’s judging mind, you’re sadly mistaken. People still judge you by looks, and if you want to use this to your advantage, there’s a formula you can follow that works for everyone. It allows you to be empowered, elevated, and confident.
Nice to meet you!

How many of you remember my mentor, Sandy Dumont? In 2018, I bought her business, The Image Architect, after her untimely death. I redid everything and relaunched it… but the style niche has taken a huge beating since then. Not for the better. So, I am only writing on Substack and working with high-ticket transformation clients now.
