Ok, so, to update on this whole tech fiasco
Whilst playing DMC5, my computer froze entirely. I did not know why. But in my infinite wisdom I cycled the power.

This made the windows installation forget what a Registry was, to my knowledge. The drive

All in all, everything is working again. He could boot in safe mode just fine, which is infinitely more advantageous than to not be able to boot at all, I could not because my registry got shot to hell and back.
