The hesitation around taking a stand for another community IS a result of division. We have to have the conversations around where this division comes from, how it persists, and how to end it... The lack of alliance between oppressed communities is detrimental with intention!
Because the oppressors are united while the oppressed are divided. And that’s the intention... The lack of alliance, or to keep it simple, RESPECT, is supporting these cycles of trauma amongst the oppressed. It HAS to stop.
I will continue to stand with what’s right in my heart—which will always be justice, unity, and healing.. But we can’t continue to stand with each other out of sympathy for a tragedy. We need conversations, compassion and empathy, we need REAL ally-ship, everyday!! #StopAsianHate
Please tune in! Please repost! This a gem of an opportunity in needed times! 💓 So excited and grateful for the expansion of learning opportunities amidst all of the chaos. Come be inspired!
It’s extremely traumatic. The silence. The violence. And the ignoring of black brutalization. We retaliate the cycle continues. We cooperate, the cycle continues. Because it isn’t our cycle!!!! It’s never been, and it’s so hard to not let the cycle turn you cold. #GeorgeFloyd
The adults, the ones who enforce and control, but where are they when change is needed most? Why do we have to risk our lives to stand for something the “change makers” sit on the couch and ignore? As you can see in the crowd, the young stand. Yet, things continue as they have.
When you’re asked who you are, you’re asked to define yourself. But the truth is, we’re human beings, not a handful of words. Why do we think of ourselves so concretely? Are there enough words to describe who we are or who we can become in a sentence? Yes. Infinite. Undefined.
The way we internalize and react to things has a lot to do with our childhood. We must remind youth, especially youth from traumatic backgrounds, that these internalizations are not their fault. Are not concrete. And that they can rewrite their stories and find healing.
Thank you, Nick! I feel the tech era is playing a new role in the lives of the youth of today. To expect the familiar teacher role to provide such variety and stimulation through conventional standards just won’t suffice! The world is a different place now. Change is necessary.
Wonderful to get @imaginejas_ Jasmine McBride’s perspectives from this session, too! Great leadership @ellisbeckyg and @Ulcca ; @go_boundless is the movement we need right now!!
What happens when 70 students, educators, and community come together to start constructing a learner-centered education empowerment paradigm? Magic! Let’s listen to the youth - they have remarkable ideas to reimagine what education can be to empower people and build community.
Thank you @randyfielding for hosting such a great community event celebrating the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The multiracial, multigenerational conversation focused on ensuring that King’s legacy leads to true educational equity!

I was studying today about the emotional and rationale brains and was thinking about how these processors within our brain are altered by drugs and perceptions of life #HipHopEd
I fear not for those who are failing in pursuit of their dreams, but for those who are failing in pursuit of other’s dreams because they’ve been told that their route is wrong. Understanding when the right time to trust in yourself over other’s isn’t selfish, it’s self care.
