It’s #indieanimationday!
The Carsons is my animated mockumentary sitcom about a young black cartoonist named Steve Carson trying to make it in LA with his new family. Which includes his wife, Katie, their baby, Nicole, and Buddy, a washed-up R&B singer now demoted to family dog
I decided to re-open pre-orders for physical copies The Carsons Vol. 1 since a lot of you have been asking!
I’ll be shipping them out in November! https://t.co/jdAyQwTGvK

The @adultswim ID I created with @DawnRichard began airing this weekend. I had so much fun putting this one together, and I hope you all enjoy! Very grateful to have been given the opportunity to animate something based on one of my favorite cartoons on TV right now! 😁
In addition to having a longer runtime and more characters than any film we’d made before. The film also sported the most color models for any one character than anything @imaginexstudio produced up to this point. Here’s just a few for @NILES100’s character.
There’s a lot of animation that (from a technical standpoint) was flashier than this in @NILES100’s The Opener, but this is my favorite sequence of shots. It was such a seamless handoff between myself and @Jimbotheartist’s animation, and it’s my favorite transition in the film.
Shooting reference can be super helpful when trying to get the correct acting for a shot. I would do a lot of acting poses for @NILES100’s The Opener, but this one in particular was super fun to shoot reference for. (Please excuse the monnet 😂)
This was one of my favorite shots from @NILES100’s “The Opener” inspired by this shot from Black Panther. Would y’all want to see some breakdowns at some point to see everything that would go into composing a single shot?
