Long before becoming Egypt's manager, Hossam Hassan was known as the country's leading goal scorer ever.
He still holds that record.
But what he could never achieve was a mere victory at the FIFA World Cup.
Egypt qualified for the World Cup in 1990 after 56 years. Hassan scored the decisive goal in the 1989 qualifier against Algeria that secured qualification. It was a landmark moment in their footballing history.
However, in 1990, Egypt couldn't win a single match after qualifying. That would be the only world cup Hassan ever participated in.
After that, Egypt qualified directly in 2018 -- Hassan was long retired by then.
There's a lot of noise around the referee after last night's thrilling match between Egypt and Argentina. And you'd have to be heartless to not feel for Egypt.
But that in no way should diminish or overshadow what Hassan has achieved.
When Egypt beat New Zealand in the first match of this ongoing World Cup, it was the country's first ever win at the tournament, ending a 92-year wait since their 1934 debut.
But he didn't stop there. He took them to the round of 16 stage, and almost qualified for the quarter finals. He was minutes away from defeating the defending champions.
Hossam Hassan might not have ever won a world cup match as a player. But as a coach, he might have just ushered a new era of football in Egypt.
Icing on the cake: he's a compassionate man who is fiercely pro Palestine.
Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya refused to abandon his patients in Gaza. He buried his own son in the hospital courtyard after he was killed by an Israeli drone that struck the entrance of Kamal Adwan Hospital. He kept the hospital running through Israel’s brutal 85-day siege, and didn’t stop fighting for his patients even when the Israeli military raided the hospital and kidnapped dozens of hospital workers. For that, the Israeli military kidnapped him a year and a half ago, and now he's been beaten, starved, thrown in solitary, and is in critical condition — all for trying to save Palestinian lives.
In his last meeting with his lawyer, Dr. Abu Safiya said “They brought me here to kill me.” Dr. Abu Safiya must be released immediately, along with the thousands of Palestinians the Israeli government is holding without charge or trial, who are now at risk after the Knesset passed a law that allows the death penalty for Palestinians.
Kidnapping one of Gaza's few remaining doctors while bombing its hospitals and killing over 1700 health care workers is yet another facet of Israel’s genocide — and it is being carried out with American weapons, paid for with our tax dollars. Palestinians have survived three years plus a century of ethnic cleansing, genocide and aparthied. Enough is enough.
In Congress, I will fight tooth and nail to cut off the endless flow of weapons and American taxpayer dollars to Israel as it violates countless international laws and indiscriminately bombs civilians across multiple countries at once.
What Is Drawing So Many Europeans to Islam? ☪️
Across Europe, thousands of people embrace Islam every year. They come from diverse countries, cultures, professions, and backgrounds. Some are students, some are academics, some are artists, and others are professionals. Some had prior religious beliefs, while others identified as non-religious.
This raises an important question: What is attracting so many Europeans to Islam?
For many converts, the answer is rooted in conviction rather than pressure or compulsion. After reading the Qur'an, studying the life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and comparing different beliefs, many find answers to questions they have pondered for years.
People are drawn to Islam for several reasons:
❤️ The belief in One God without partners.
❤️The clarity and consistency of Islamic monotheism.
❤️ A direct relationship with the Creator, free from intermediaries.
❤️ The preservation of the Qur'an.
❤️The discipline of the five daily prayers.
❤️ Strong family values.
❤️ A sense of purpose and accountability.
❤️A global brotherhood and sisterhood that transcends race and nationality.
Of course, each person's journey is unique. Not everyone who studies Islam becomes a Muslim, but every sincere seeker deserves the opportunity to explore its teachings for themselves.
As stated in the Qur'an:
«"There shall be no compulsion in religion. Truth stands clear from falsehood." (Qur'an 2:256)»
Islam encourages people to reflect, ask questions, and seek the truth sincerely. Perhaps this is why, despite misconceptions and negative stereotypes, many continue to embrace Islam every year.
Guidance belongs to Allah alone. May Allah guide those who are sincerely searching for the truth, keep those who are upon Islam steadfast, and increase us all in knowledge, wisdom, and good character.
Ameen.
The greatest journey is not across continents; it is the journey from doubt to certainty, and from creation to the Creator.
“Tonight I suffered with Argentina”
How do you even convince people that this organization isn’t favoring Messi when the president openly declared his support for Argentina?
Kudos to Jose Mourinho, Alan Shearer and many other footballing figures who have called out the outrageous and impossible VAR offside decision against Iran.
But none of them has stated the truth: it was not incompetence, it was FIFA political corruption.
🚨 Roy Keane Doesn't Hold Back After Iran's Controversial VAR Heartbreak:
🗣️ “I don't want to hear anyone telling me VAR is making football better after watching that. If that's the standard at a World Cup, we're in trouble.
The whole point of the technology is to stop obvious mistakes. Instead, it's become another way to create them. That goal should never have been taken away if the decision wasn't absolutely clear.
I feel for the Iranian players. They thought they'd produced one of the biggest moments in their country's football history, only for it to be wiped out by people sitting in a room watching television screens.
When you're making decisions that can send one team through and knock another out, you have to get them right. 'Almost right' isn't good enough. Not on this stage.
Football is about players deciding matches, not officials becoming the biggest talking point afterwards. Yet here we are again, discussing referees instead of the football.
Someone has to explain how that decision was reached because supporters deserve answers. If VAR can't provide fairness in moments like these, then it's failing at the one job it was brought into the game to do.”
¡ESTA IMAGEN NOS ROMPIÓ EL CORAZÓN! 💔🇮🇷

Lagos is facing a growing waste crisis, with mounting concerns that poor waste disposal and collection are worsening environmental and public health challenges across the state.
Experts argue that beyond waste collection, Lagos must strengthen recycling programmes, support informal waste collectors and expand waste-for-value initiatives that reward residents for recycling.
They also urge greater investment in waste-to-energy projects, noting successful models in countries where waste is converted into electricity, jobs and economic opportunities.

@LukeEdwardsTele where did I lie? I said Julián wants to go, as he just confirmed. I said Barça want him and up to Atléti, and that’s the case. Lies? Zero. You did 500 tweets saying Isak was gonna stay… or Trafford going NUFC same day went City. Think about yourself, then you talk about me. 🤗
Trump picked JD Vance to be his VP after Peter Thiel and Tucker Carlson convinced him that the "anti-war America First isolationist" fake persona they built around him was popular for the election. Now another election is looming so they're trotting the bullshit facade out again, and then this Thiel-Mossad fraud will go right back to laundering the relaunching of the war on Iran just like he did before, and Tucker will go back to not saying a single word about him doing so just as he didn't over the past few months. This is the media game being played by these depraved scumbags.
I never heard such brutal honesty about the state of Israel from an American official before. Those in the Biden administration would sooner sell their organs than say something like this publicly. In one soundbite he exposes Israel’s utter international isolation and its complete dependence on the US for its security. The masks and the gloves are off.
Some of the things Trump said in the last 48 hours:
- Hamas is behaving very well these days.
- Iran should have missiles. Why not?
- We're going to unfreeze Iran's money. It's their money. Why should we steal their money?
- If the war kept going there would have been an economic catastrophe. So we had to end it.
- Some of the guys in the Islamic regime are really nice.
- If Iran didn't open the Strait of Hormuz our oil reserves would have run out in 4 weeks. We had to make a deal.
- Netanyahu is crazy. They keep killing innocent civilians. He needs to be more responsible.
- Without me and America, Israel wouldn't exist.
They aren’t even hiding what these hydration breaks are about. It’s 75 degrees under a roof at SoFi, the announcer says “that’s the end of the first quarter,” and then it’s straight to commercials. The game is gone.
