Picture this: College management tasks teachers with organizing a cultural event honoring Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

The teachers, in turn, tasked the students. Students came up with the idea to dance to "Ooh La La, Ooh La La, Tu Hai Meri Fantasy," and the teachers didn't feel the song was inappropriate for the occasion, so they approved it. I'm sure the teachers got program approval from the management as well and they too didn't find this odd.

There must have been days of rehearsals, yet no one from the students to the teachers to the management thought it was absurd.

I also paid my heartfelt tribute to Mother Teresa, whose extraordinary life of service transformed innumerable lives and continues to inspire millions across the world. Her enduring message of love, compassion and service to humanity remains deeply powerful.

On the Birthday of the Mahanayak, Remember Another Dark Chapter of the Communists:

Today is the birthday of Mahanayak Uttam Kumar. He was not just a great actor in the history of Bengali cinema; he was an inseparable part of Bengali emotions, pride and culture. His acting made him immortal, but as a human being too, he was an extraordinary person.

He stood by many artists and technicians in their difficult times. He helped people in need without hesitation. Yet even a person like him was not spared from the politics and dominance of the Left at that time.

As the influence of the Left grew within the film artists' organisation, Actors' Association, a campaign was launched to defame Uttam Kumar. Posters calling him a "thief" were even put up outside his house on Moira Street. A man who stayed away from active politics was also targeted and politically humiliated.

It was after these experiences that Uttam Kumar formed Shilpi Sansad. Its purpose was to help poor and helpless artists and technicians of Bengal. He remained the president of the organisation until his death. This itself shows that Uttam Kumar was not only great on screen --he was an extraordinary human being as well.

But the disrespect shown towards him did not end during his lifetime.

On 24 July 1980, Bengal was shocked by the sudden death of Mahanayak Uttam Kumar. The streets of Kolkata were filled with an ocean of people. Millions of admirers wanted to pay their last respects to their beloved Mahanayak.

Despite the demand to keep his body at Rabindra Sadan so that ordinary people could pay their final respects, permission was not given by the then Left Front government. In the end, his body was kept at Purna Cinema Hall.

The role of the then CPI(M) leadership in this incident has also been discussed by various writers and researchers. Professor and writer Sayandeb Chowdhury of Ambedkar University Delhi has written about the role of Pramode Dasgupta, raising questions that are still remembered today.

On the birthday of the Mahanayak, those questions come back to mind.

Should an artist's political identity, or whether he is close to a particular political party, decide the respect he deserves? Should the love of millions of people for a man be judged through the lens of political ideology?

Uttam Kumar is no longer with us, but the love Bengalis have for him remains. Attempts to belittle him, insult him or deny his popularity for political reasons could never remove him from the hearts of the people.

On the birthday of the Mahanayak, we pay our respects to him.

And at the same time, we must remember history--how the great artists, culture and cultural icons of Bengal were treated in the past.

Forgive us, Mahanayak. Attempts were made to insult you, but no one could ever take away your place in the hearts of Bengalis. The Mahanayak was there, the Mahanayak is here, and the Mahanayak will remain forever.

The 120-day countdown has begun. At any time, on any day, it could go live on your X timeline.

This is similar to what Sergio Gor circulated when he tweeted that Bangladesh is purchasing more Boeing aircraft after acquiring 14 aircraft a few months earlier—potentially creating many high-paying American jobs.

The news reportedly came first from Gor’s X handle, rather than from the Jamaat and Yunus-backed BNP govt of Bangladesh.

Now there are reports that Bangladesh, under the Jamaat and Yunus-backed BNP govt, has agreed to purchase a total of 65 Boeing aircraft, potentially creating more than 100,000 high-paying American jobs.

Meanwhile Bangladesh hasn’t that kind of foreign currency reserve to pay for 65 Boeing aircrafts but the US still agreed to give it without money outright, then what’s the deal.

This brings back the old speculation about an American military air base on Saint martin islands and giving away Chittagong for the new Christian state. America will not be unhappy with it. BNP govt will not either, they will be assured to remain in power in Bangladesh.

Then comes the 120-day countdown.

The former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina declared only days ago that she would return to Bangladesh, while the Jamaat and Yunus-backed BNP govt reportedly sought US help to prevent her return. Interestingly, America has assured them of support for their interests—and, under this scenario, could eventually also facilitate Sheikh Hasina’s return.

Sheikh Hasina could therefore return to a country in complete chaos, and perhaps to a Bangladesh very different from the country that achieved independence in 1971 after an ocean of blood was shed.

Those who are now allegedly selling out Bangladesh may eventually flee to the very places from which they came—or where they belong.

Now present-day Bangladesh appears to be heading toward becoming the next major war zone after Ukraine.

If such a Christian state were ever created, and if it received full US backing, the question would be: What would India and China do?

Answer: They would primarily act according to their own national interests.

India would have little reason to oppose such a development if the proposed state consisted only of parts of Bangladesh’s Chittagong Hill Tracts and Myanmar’s Rakhine State, without involving any Indian territory—including Manipur or Mizoram.

From India’s perspective, at least Hindus will not be slaughtered there. If a Muslim-majority Bangladesh were to fragment and a new state emerged in these territories, Hindu majority India could potentially view the situation through the lens of regional security and minority protection.

What about China?

China would likewise act according to its strategic interests. Beijing would likely resist expanded US influence in a resource-rich region, particularly one with rare-earth minerals, while strengthening ties with local actors and insurgent groups to protect its interests.

India would pursue its own strategic interests—strengthening the Siliguri Corridor and securing Northeast connectivity. If Bangladesh fragments further, India could potentially support Bangladeshi Hindus who are being slaughtered every day in Bangladesh, to establish a separate Hindu-majority state in the Rangpur region.

My central argument is this:
Present-day Bangladesh may not remain territorially or politically unchanged if current geopolitical, religious and strategic trends continue.

A possible future scenario could involve Bangladesh losing control over parts of the Chittagong and Rangpur regions, while the remaining territory will face intense pressure to neutralize extremist and jihadist networks.

This is a developing geopolitical scenario—not a claim that these events are certain.
