The Election Commission of India is under fire like never before.
The SIR has struck 13 crore names off draft rolls, putting the EC at the centre of intense public debate over its role in deciding who gets to vote тАФ and who doesnтАЩt.
HOWEVER, what nobody knew: through that same period, some of the sharpest questions were being asked from inside.
Out today, after months of work. Our #ExpressInvestigation ЁЯз╡

#BREAKING Law student Akshat Tripathi alleges that Supreme Court was misled by Uttar Pradesh government over the action taken on the Rs 5 lakh bond notice issued to him for the Cockroach Janta Party protest.
SG Tushar Mehta appearing for UP Government had told the Court on September 10 that the official responsible was suspended. But as per UP DGP HQ, only Sub-Inspector Shiva Pandey, who forwarded the case, was suspended. The ACP (Executive Magistrate) who issued the notice was not.
Tripathi has placed an Indian Express report on the same before the Court
Saturday's press statement also also confirms what Wednesday's wouldn't: The two ECs did write to the Cabinet Secretary; the July 28 order existed and "was not actually implemented" after they intervened;
AND
In Goa, 81 of the 97 voters left off the roll "have already filled Form 6," applying as new voters, the very thing the state's CEO wanted done BEFORE the final SIR roll was ppublished on Feb 21

First the CEC steals our Votes!
Then Shah's Police denies us our Right to Protest at Jantar Mantar!
We Ask:
For what reason?
By which law?
On whose Orders?
Tomorrow @pbhushan1@_YogendraYadav@nanditanarans@manojkjhadu@nikhilmkss & I will be going to Parliament Street Police Station at 3 PM to submit an intimation letter for a protest at JM on 2nd October.
@narendramodi, yesterday Delhi saw two protests: one against your vote-chori partner Gyanesh Kumar, another against gangrape and sexual assault.
And what did you do? Bhajan Clubbing. Priorities much?
DonтАЩt worry, your vote-chori partner and the culture of protecting rapists wonтАЩt be spared by the Gen Z.
On Tuesday, the Election Commission said all was well:
The 14 objections by two of its three members were "suggestions," every decision was "unanimous."
With in 48 hours, on Saturday, it issued NINE decisions. Read them against the 14 notes. It's a U-TURN, not in what it says, but in what it does.
And it still leaves some hard Qs unanswered.
Stay with me.
