Use ICHD criteria

Identify triggers:

Stress, sleep deprivation
Cheese, chocolate, alcohol
Menstruation (→ menstrual migraine)

First intervention = Lifestyle modification (always!)

STEP 2: Acute Attack Management (Abortive Therapy)

Mild–Moderate Attack

Paracetamol
NSAIDs (Ibuprofen, Naproxen)

Add:

Antiemetic (Metoclopramide / Domperidone)

Moderate–Severe Attack OR NSAID failure

Triptans (Drug of choice)
