It’s almost time to get the old crew back together!
📅 Our first community playtest is planned for November 1, 2026.

From weapon selection and Weapon Exchange to taunts, victory dances, voice chat, clans, and player stats, we’re working to bring back those details that made SOCOM II special.
The goal is to preserve the gunplay, movement, pacing, and teamwork we remember, with the convenience of playing through your browser.

@theeEraEra Haha, my brother, you don’t need it! All you need is your own ISO file on your computer(Mac or PC) or phone. If you need help getting set up, our Grokbot, @vandalfromsocom, can walk you through it!
A question we keep getting is: “What’s the difference between this and already playing on an emulator?”
The biggest difference is accessibility and how it’s built. With Legacy, you open the website, select your own SOCOM II ISO, connect your controller, and play. No emulator setup. We’re also building features like shareable lobby links so getting friends into a match is easier.
An emulator runs the original PS2 game. Legacy uses our custom browser engine to read the original maps, models, sounds, and game data. That gives us direct control over the gameplay and multiplayer systems we’re developing, so we can investigate bugs, test improvements, and keep working to preserve the original feel.
One intentional difference is that we simulate the game logic on our server instead of relying on a player’s device to host that simulation. This can make matches more consistent, reduce dependence on an individual host’s connection, and give us more control over validating player actions and addressing cheating. It also opens the door to features like replays.
The goal is to preserve SOCOM II’s gunplay, movement, pacing, and teamwork while making it easier to access, maintain, and enjoy together.

I agree about the core audience but most people have a cell phone! Mobile support is working great, so you don’t need a gaming PC. Load your own ISO, connect a controller, and send your friends an invite link through a text so they can join you. I’m a 40-year-old parent myself, and that’s the whole idea: make it easy to get the old crew together. There has been a huge response only started posting about 2 weeks ago getting the word out.
@log1cal Hey MF, thanks for the post. All you need is an iso which is the digital copy of the game. if you need help getting set up and how that works there is a grok bot named @vandalfromsocom that can help you!
@MBarnes8731 Yes! That’s a feature we’ve put a lot of time into on the server side, and clans work too. We may occasionally need to reset stats during testing, but they’re recorded just like in the original experience. You even create your player name when you log in!
@TbobSmith Yep its free all you have to do is bring your iso. @vandalfromsocom is a grokbot and can get you set up if you need help. The Alpha launces Nov 1!
