Any experiment is the artist's right. Criticism is the listener's right — and from that place, I am speaking.

Just as the clouds of Ashar bring the hope of rain in Bengal's thousand-year-old poetry, songs, and folk culture, Coke Studio Bangla's 'Megh' has also arrived carrying that same heritage. It reminds us of Rabindranath's Meghmalhar, the Baul song 'Allah Megh De,' and the classical Raag Megh. Shoeb's voice brings a classical touch, and the blend with Masha and Mousumi adds modernity — the effort is beautiful.

But sadly, this cloud turned heavy yet failed to bring any rain. In the complexity of the tune, the simple emotion of the poetry got lost, as if the sky is full of clouds but the earth remains dry. Where Bengal's monsoon awakens life, this version just grumbled and passed by.

রইদ নিয়ে এতো চাপের কিছু নাই পি.এইচ.ডি করা লাগবে না একদম সহজ পরলেই বুঝবেন
আজ  সন্ধ্যায় রইদ দেখে ফিরলাম। হল থেকে বেরিয়ে কিছুক্ষণ চুপ করে বসে ছিলাম। সাধারণত আমার এমন হয় না, কিন্তু এবার কেমন যেন থমকে গেলাম। মাথার ভেতরটা এখনো ঘুরছে।
গল্পটা শুরুতে খুব সাদামাটা লাগে। এক সাধু, তার পাগলী বউ, একটা ছাগল, পেছনে তালগাছ। এই তো। কিন্তু যত এগোতে থাকি, বুঝি এটা আসলে আদম-হাওয়ার গল্প। প্রেম আর পাপ এখানে আলাদা করার উপায় নেই। দুটো একসাথে জড়াজড়ি করে আছে। সিনেমাটা পুরোটা এই টানাপোড়েন নিয়েই চলে।
তাল শুধু ফল না এখানে। সাধু যখন তালের পিঠা খায়, তখন সে প্রেম গিলে ফেলে। একবার গিললে আর বের করা যায় না। সেই বিষ ধীরে ধীরে শরীরে ছড়ায়, হাড় ক্ষয় করে, তবু যায় না। এই অংশটা আমাকে বেশ নাড়া দিয়েছে।
