@OrganikHipHop Bender, Pat, they carved a path -- simulacra and simulation. Anything evolves, rap was about being tough and overcoming, now it's about style and being more like a rock star.
That doesn't meld with battle rap at all.
@OrganikHipHop Not because you or Gully or even Smack didn't try, the talent just didn't show up. Nothing to compete for.
Put yo money where yo mouth iz, didn't battlers have to put up their own cash?
Also, you can't say half the stuff on it anymore, so the whole audience shifted away.
@OrganikHipHop Yeah I agree with all of this, but I will say: Battle Rap just isn't really something the new generation relates to. There's no 8 mile to set the story and make it relatable anymore.
Rap in general is for the younger generation, and the torch was never properly passed.
