Elon Musk just became the world’s first trillionaire.
And the SpaceX IPO is already in the books.
What was once internet folklore is now part of market history. 🚀📈
The real story? How a company millions followed from the sidelines finally became investable.

Google which is cash surplus, just announced an additional capital raise of $80 bn.
Google annual profit is $160 bn, last quarter $62 bn, and market cap $4.5 trillion. That is close to total profits and market cap of all Indian listed companies put together.
It’s a wake up call to all companies to invest into the future, whatever the present maybe.
Now that IPL is done and dusted, time for India to focus on business of business.
Every year Indians debate whether to invest globally.
Every year the rupee settles the debate for them.
₹84 → ₹95 in 12 months. That's a 13% currency loss before your equity even blinks.
The dollar doesn't care about your hesitation.
In a hotel lobby in Bombay, an Indian businessman was turned away.
The manager's words were cold. Final.
The businessman said nothing back.
He simply made a decision.
A decision that would go on to build modern India.
Let's talk about the most consequential business family this country has ever seen.
🚨 Major RBI changes kick in April 1, 2026.
If you use MTF…
If you pledge stocks for margin…
If you rely on buying power from your broker…
Your capital efficiency is about to drop.
Because the RBI changed funding rules.
Here’s what actually happened 🧵
Many people on the internet are unhappy with today’s Budget. Markets reacted negatively too.
But let’s take a step back and look at why.
1/ Capital markets, and all of us, usually enter Budget Day with very high expectations. We want big spending, big tax cuts, big everything.
However, if you followed the Economic Survey few days ago, the government had already made its stance clear: growth with 'fiscal prudence.'
That’s why the overall increase in capital expenditure was relatively modest, at ~9%.
2/ On direct taxes, most of the framework was already laid out last year. New tax rates were announced. Rebates were increased. That naturally left limited room for major changes this time.
3/ The STT hike? Yes, it’s a bummer. Nobody likes paying more to trade. But it is broadly aligned with SEBI’s intent to curb excessive speculation and protect small investors.
That said, HNIs and institutions use options to hedge portfolios, and option sellers are key liquidity providers. As a result, some liquidity driven by low-cost arbitrage and leveraged positions is likely to exit the market.
Now, here are a few good things from the Budget.
1/ The world is going through trade wars and rising tariffs. In the middle of this, India is trying to position itself as a manufacturing hub.
The EU trade deal announced just ahead of the Budget was a strong signal. That’s why multiple announcements were made to strengthen electronics manufacturing, exports, logistics, and freight capacity.
2/ Then there’s the bigger shift. We are moving into an AI-driven world. Data is the new oil. Data centres are the new refineries.
And the government has recognised this opportunity.
Long-term tax benefits of up to 20 years have been announced for data centres. That’s a big deal.
Because data centres require massive amounts of power capacity, which links three key areas for us: technology, infrastructure, and power.
If India can get this right and become a global data centre hub, it creates opportunities across the entire value chain.
Overall, this budget wasn't exciting, but it's constructive step in a long journey.
Markets will move on. Emotions will cool down. But the infrastructure being built now will decide where we stand in 2035.

Money can dramatically change how you experience a city.
For most of my life, I lived at home. Childhood. Schooling. College. Even when I worked at @_groww, it was mostly work from home due to COVID.
I spent 6 months in Bengaluru, but I was earning an entry-level salary. I used to think twice before spending beyond basic needs. Yet I wasn't saving anything.
I thought: "Why am I paying so much rent when Ahmedabad gives me a better standard of living for less?"
I made an opinion that maybe it's not worth the "hype."
But talking to my friends/colleagues who were in B'luru for some years now, I realised much of my experience was shaped by mindset + bandwidth, not the city itself.
I was mostly in survival mode. I optimized for getting through the week, not building a life. Result: I didn't fully experience what the city and its people had to offer.
Now I have moved to Bombay. And this time, it's different. I've come with the mindset to explore, not survive.
I am more comfortable financially. So I'm looking forward to the small joys and experiences.
- Renting my own place and designing it to feel peaceful
- Cooking food, building routines
- Going out intentionally: events, communities, meeting new people
The city feels different when you aren't struggling to survive, but wanting to thrive. I am here to see what happens when you put yourself in the middle of the chaos.
It might be expensive. But the opportunity cost of staying home was getting higher every day.
PS. New to Bombay! Drop your recommendations - places to explore, interesting communities to join, anything I shouldn't miss!
I walked into a room full of market veterans. I expected complex metrics. I expected secret formulas.
What I got was stories that we all relate with.
I got the opportunity to attend the "Wealth Creation Study" (WCS). It's a flagship research initiative where @Raamdeo Agrawal talks about long-term wealth creation opportunities in the Indian market.
Raamdeo is a legend. He runs in the same circle as Rakesh Jhunjhunwala and Radhakishan Damani. These are men who haven't just watched the market; they have survived multiple cycles of it.
They know the pulse of the market.
So, naturally, I went in with my notebook ready to capture some high-level technical jargon.
But true experts don't make things complicated. They make them simple.
For instance, Raamdeo had coined a framework back in 2012 called QGLP:
→ Quality → Growth → Longevity → Price
That's it. The entire @MotilalOswalLtd company, managing thousands of crores, runs on these four words today.
But the real gold was the panel discussion between Raamdeo Agrawal, Ramesh Damani, Sunil Mahtani.
They started swapping stories. Not just their biggest wins. But also their "misses."
"I bought this stock, but I sold it too early."
"I knew this company would fly, but I didn't put enough money in."
"Waited for the stock to correct; but it kept going up."
I sat there shocked. These are my problems, all of our problems.
For the last 5 years, I've beaten myself up because:
- I pick the right stock.
- But I don't allocate enough capital.
- Or I sell before the real compounding kicks in.
I thought this was because I was an amateur. Turns out, even the veterans fight these behavioral biases.
The lesson all of them gave was simple. In hindsight, they lost more money to behavioural biases than to wrong investment choices.
What matters is understanding the opportunity, sticking with your conviction, and let compounding do its magic.
I’m joining @MotilalOswalLtd as Head of Socials.
Stock markets were my first love in finance. They are the reason I found my way into this industry in the first place.
It feels good to be back into this space. Especially with a brand that has witnessed the evolution of Indian capital markets. They have grown through every bull and bear cycle over the last 40 years.
I’m excited to help take this brand forward by building content and conversations around money that are genuinely useful, fun and relevant for young Indians.
Most of all, I’m excited to learn from the people who have been up close to the markets for decades.
Going forward, I’ll be sharing more from my own journey over last five years at the intersection of finance and content.
I’ll be breaking down:
- The learnings and the wins
- The mistakes and the screw-ups
- The frameworks that actually work
Follow along :)

IMPORTANT UPDATE
The deadline to file your Income Tax Return (ITR) for AY 2025-26 has been extended by one day to 16th September 2025.
Here’s how you can get a head start when you file your return tomorrow:
1) Don’t wait until the last minute.
On 15th September, we observed that as the day went on, many taxpayers faced increasing issues and delays while making tax payments or e-filing returns. Filing early will save you from last-minute hassles.
2) Keep your documents ready.
Download and keep handy all the required documents such as your AIS, Form 26AS, and other relevant records before you begin filing.
3) Have an alternative plan
If you face difficulties on the Income Tax portal, don’t wait endlessly. You can instead file through platforms like Quicko (a registered ERI), which are authorized to securely fetch your data from the ITD and help you complete the process smoothly.
Over the past few days, we have helped thousands of taxpayers successfully file their returns on Quicko, and we are here to support many more.
Happy tax filing!
We just hit 2 lakh registrations on @zerodhavarsity Live in a short time!
The goal with Varsity Live has always been to make high-quality, interactive financial education accessible to as many people as possible.
By live, I don’t mean boring webinars or one-way monologues. I mean fun, engaging sessions where you can interact with a mentor, learn by doing exercises, use tools, build things, take quizzes, and more.
So yeah, people are really liking what we’re doing so far.
A few images from recent sessions.
One of the most acute pain-points this year for taxpayers is the confusion around filing Form 10-IEA.
Lot of people are filing it without even needing to, and that's locking them into a wrong regime.
Watch this video till the end to know who should file Form 10-IEA.

Most of us only think about taxes when we’re forced to.
Usually right before the due date. With 15 tabs open. Hoping we don’t miss something important while jumping between forms and portals.
