All good things must come to an end! This week we have our final edition of Immiwonk, with some parting thoughts on U.S. #immigration. Thank you to all our readers and contributors for your interest and support!
Final Thoughts from Immiwonk, by @immiwonk https://t.co/lY6HmSwy0C
@watkinsmike83 @jarais I was surprised to find this out also, but as far as I know the ELIS I-485s are all paper submissions that are digitized. There is no public-facing e-file method for I-485 currently that I know of. Different from the I-130/N400 which have "e-file" like you mentioned.
@_frustrating__@NumbersUSA There's a lot of exchange between RAIO adjudicators and Field Office ISO jobs (especially in the last 4 years), but generally speaking I think the RAIO folks have the harder job. Hopefully they will get some recognition in the next few years.
Plenty of DHS news this week, and a surprising announcement by a candidate in the California Governor's race. #immigration in the News!

@wasdenbanias This was a dumb rule anyway as they collect their biometrics when they get their visas. Anything they weren't collecting at that stage like a signature could have easily been added to the visa process.
Relatively slow week for #immigration news, but a surprising win in the Supreme Court and a new ICE Director nominated. Check it out!

@ackocher A lot of technical and policy improvements. They seem to have burned more political capital than was necessary to make the limited progress they have, though.
Dubya's #immigration reform push, H2 visa program expansion, and DHS rolls back their program that fines undocumented immigrants. This week in the news!

George W. Bush as guest speaker at naturalization ceremony in Rockefeller this morning. The whole 3-4 hour show is on immigration, really great to see.

This is very notable. Previous R and D administrations opposed granting right to counsel at ports of entry. And an administration supporting a limitation on presidential discretionary authority is almost unheard of.
Lots of news on the refugee/asylum front this week, and a new director is nominated at USCIS! #immigration in the news!

@_frustrating__ @watkinsmike83 That is a surprisingly detailed article. You could write something similar about the next-gen proprietary software the Department of State hopes to use for its overseas visa processing: ConsularOne (still mostly vaporware after 10+ years and god knows how much money).
@Ev8ngelineD Yeah I think for now that is basically the way it still works. It's possible some changes making things more difficult for recent arrivals were in the works, but everything is moving in the opposite direction now policy-wise.
@Ev8ngelineD There's some discussion going on right now because as of a year or two ago not all Cubans are technically being paroled in, but rather just released pending a court appearance. Does he have an I-94?
Border Coordinators, talk show hosts, and more this week on "#Immigration in the News"!
