Thrilled to announce I'm joining the Department of Molecular Genetics & Microbiology at the University of Florida in January 2026! My lab will study RNA virus-host interactions with a particular focus on the spatial regulation of viral replication and innate immune activation.
Excitingly, we are now hiring at all levels!! Please reach out if you are interested in RNA viruses, viral replication, innate immunity, RNA imaging, or are just excited about having fun doing cool science! Information about specific positions here https://t.co/3Ct98hqhCJ
@caro_goujon The AdipoGen Life Sciences "anti-RIG-I, mAb (Alme-1)" works well for us in our lab for IF! Though endogenous levels in many cells lines can be too low to reliably detect, it is clearly visible after upregulation with IFNB treatment or (induction of IFNB by) infection
Excited to share my postdoc work from the Gale lab!
We asked where/what vRNAs are sensed during WNV infection. Turns out low levels of -vRNAs make their way into the cytoplasm during egress to be sensed by RIG-I and their accumulation underlies heterogeneous immune activation!
@KingOfPathogens Measles hands down!!! Polymerases of mononegavirales make both mRNA and vRNA off the same template (and also DVGs!) which is just SO cool
Everyone go read this excellent work by the inimitable @nandangokhale ! It’s been so fun to watch this project come together over the past few years. A little less viral RNA than I would like 😉, but exciting nonetheless!
m7GpppNm - VERY EXCITED to share my postdoctoral work in with @RamlabUW, now out @bioRxiv. We found that cellular RNA interacts with MAVS, the adaptor protein of the RIG-I-like receptor pathway, to promote antiviral signaling. "🧵":

@nandangokhale@LindsayABecker Hi! RNA-FISH with IFA is my bread and butter! I likely follow the same protocols that Arjun posted but im happy to share protocols and tips and tricks or discuss. Feel free to DM me!
Had a great time at my first positive-strand RNA virus meeting! My first in-person meeting as a postdoc and working on positive-strand viruses! Feeling excited to get back to lab and looking forward to many more #lovevirology#KSRNAVirus22
@thatsdrpox2you I broke my foot in grad school and spent ~a month on crutches. I carried reagents in a little drawstring backpack or put them in a glove as a little pouch if just a few, pushed ice buckets around on wheely chairs, and relied heavily on the kindness of labmates! Good luck!
