For 5 years, I’ve watched pregnant resident doctors, nurses, and technicians struggle.
Some work till 38-39 weeks, some till 32-34 weeks - not by choice, but compulsion.
The 3rd trimester is not a joke: fatigue, bleeding, IUGR, abnormal scans, unexpected complications - yet duty continues.
After delivery, guidelines recommend 6 months of exclusive breastfeeding.

So what happens?
Work till term >> get full 6 months with the baby
Take leave in the 3rd trimester >> lose bonding time, barely 3 months with the baby

This is not a choice. This is a system flaw.

I urge the Government of India to extend paid maternity leave from 6 months to 9 months (at least for 1st pregnancy)

Pregnant women deserve rest in the 3rd trimester and a full 6 months with their newborn.

That’s how a healthy generation is built.

And honestly, how are seated female MPs not raising this issue?

The baby was born without any movement. Oxygen support was given first, but when that didn’t help, Dr. Chaudhary performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation for nearly 7 minutes and the baby started breathing! A true hero in action. 🫶

मैं एक आम आदमी हूं।
कभी कैब ड्राइवर के रूप में बैठे-बैठे मर जाता हूं, क्योंकि लापरवारी के लबादे में लिपटी एयरपोर्ट की छत मेरे ऊपर गिर जाती है।
कभी राह चलते प्रचार का होर्डिंग बोर्ड गिरने से मारा जाता हूं।
कभी ट्रेन मैं बैठे-बैठे सरिया मेरे सीने से पार हो जाता है, तो कभी मिडिल बर्थ गिरने से मेरी मौत हो जाती है।
इन सब से भी बच गया तो ट्रेन हादसे में मेरी जान चली जाती है। कभी पुल गिरने से मारा जाता हूं, कभी इमारत।

मैं कोई जिंदा शरीर नहीं, बल्कि संख्या भर हूं। क्योंकि इस देश के हादसों में मौत सिर्फ पहली होती है,बाकी सब सरकार के लिए संख्या होते हैं। मृतकों की संख्या बढ़कर इतनी हुई वाली हेडलाइन हूं मैं। मैं वहीं हूं जिसकी मौत का जिम्मेदार आज तक नहीं मिला, जांच रिपोर्ट के नाम पर किसी सरकारी तहखाने की फाइल में धूल फांकने वाला लाल स्याही से लिखा नाम हूं मैं।

मैं मरा तो कीमत लगा दी जाएगी। 10 लाख, 20 में मेरी जिंदगी तोल दी जाएगी। हमारी नहीं, उनकी सरकार की गलती है,ये बात बोल दी जाएगी।
