In my EDFD452 tutorial this week, we used an online app to create our own classroom space! Although there wasn't an option for everything I would have included, I think I found a way to create a basic inclusive, collaborative, and welcoming classroom space :) #ACUedu_p
On Kindy last week, the class teacher told me to schedule in developmental play. I have heard great things, though I never understood the importance of watching the kids grow and learn through developmental play. I loved watching their minds create amazing things! #ACUedu_p
I think this is so important to remember! There is always time for comfort, listening, and appreciating. What we do for our student's emotional needs will stay with them in the long run and it is the most crucial step to having the classrooms we want.
Today I had my first day with my own RFF time. Nobody really explained to you how you can use this time to your advantage. I successfully planned what I needed to be done, though I think over time I will need to find different ways to manage my time correctly :) #ACUedu_p
Teaching art to the little ones always makes me feel so proud. I love watching them create all different kinds of the same artwork using their imagination! Check out these Lupine Flower fields created by year 1! #ACUedu_p
In my future classroom, I plan to create an 'Affirmation Station' for students to remind themselves every day how great they are. I think this is a great confidence and comfort booster in a classroom and I cannot wait to test it! #ACUedu_p
Today I participated in a BushTucker tour at the Royal Botanic Gardens as a way to understand how excursions can support Aboriginal Education. It was very informative and interesting, I believe an excursion like this would best engage a stage 3 cohort! Very fun! #ACUedu_p
As we transition into the second half of semester 1, I think I will benefit from expanding my knowledge of behaviour management strategies in the classroom, with an understanding of how to properly engage students with difficult behaviours in varying circumstances. #ACUedu_p
So far, throughout EDFD452, I have gained in-depth knowledge surrounding the transition to the profession. This includes assessment knowledge, professional practice, and improvement of my own personal teaching strategies, knowledge, and skills. #ACUedu_p
Assessment for students is so important, not only for teachers but for students too. It shows where a student is at in their learning, and where and how they can improve. It supports the teaching and learning process to help students continue to develop their learning. #ACUedu_p
I've been told from my work that I will be job-sharing for 2 weeks on a year 1 class to relieve their teacher! This opportunity excites me so much and I cannot wait to see what else is in store for my teaching future! โบ๏ธ #ACUedu_p
Like I realised today when casual teaching... as frustrating as it can be, call out the students who are on task and doing the right thing! Positive reinforcement wins!
Day 3 casual teaching done! Year 4 is very independent, though due to this they struggled to stay focused. Although frustrating at times, it was a gentle reminder to me that rewarding and praising positive behaviour goes further than calling on negative behaviours! #ACUedu_p
As a beginning teacher, I think one of the most important displays I will include within my classroom one day is a Growth Mindset wall. A Growth Mindset is an imperative display as it demonstrates to young students that their goals are more than reachable.๐ #ACUedu_p
