Rami and Leen, activists dialed-in from Syria: we need more details on what is targeted/affected by sanctions and how to avoid their negative impact on civil society, to be able to deal with them
Dr.Daher: We need to be clear about our political goals from implementing the sanctions as a policy. I’m not against the sanctions as a tool of accountability but we also need to acknowledge the financial pressure they will put on the Syrian community as a whole and civil society
an activist from Syria: challenges include, political polarization, changing of donor priorities, lack of communication with donors and negative impression and stereotypes
Dr. Daher: Syrian regime has been imprisoning any opposition prior to 2011. Working in Syria was never an easy task. We need to try our best to continue working (or supporting) the people who are still active in government held areas in Syria.
