@ParamitaRoy14@ankitku38499172@RoshanKrRaii Pathetic person is no one but you. I'm talking against the wrong of current people in power and you automatically assume that I'm congress supporter. What rahul gandhi did was inconvenient too, instead of picking and glazing a side. Be a better person for this country ๐
J. Cole made some random Chinese girl from China like me, living all the way across the Pacific Ocean, catch a glimpse of the spirit of hip-hop and opened me up to a whole new world.
Hip-hop had already lived a whole chapter before I ever entered the world. In the โ90s and early 2000s, I was still a little kid. China had yet to lift its population out of poverty on the scale it eventually would. My grandparents were Chinese farmers working the land, while my mother and I lived in a tiny rented apartment in Beijing. We had no computer, no internetโjust a TV, and American hip-hop sure as hell wasnโt playing on it.
It was only later, as I grew older and the world around me changed, that I gradually gained access to the internet and stumbled upon this new and unfamiliar genre called rap. And naturally, the MCs I was going to encounter were the ones of that moment: the MCs who came up through the blog era.
It was the way Cole lived by a certain code, and the way he stayed committed to certain fundamentals of hip-hop, that gradually made me realize this was a genre I needed to approach with more reverence. And from there, I started tracing that lineage backward, climbing further upstream toward the artists who inspired him and the tradition he inherited.
Itโs not an exaggeration to say that, in this sense, Cole offered me a connection to the hip-hop greats who came before my time, despite how far removed I was from them in both time and place: Thatโs what it means to prioritize the skill, the work, the music itself, and the culture. You carry the history forward, and in doing so, inspire what comes next.
And therefore I will always be grateful that, in this globalized age, J. Cole and I happened to exist at the same time, with him being the GOAT of my era.
And the fact that heโs STILL doing it at the very top of his craft NOW? Thereโs no way not to be inspired by that.
Respect to Cole, always!
A woman who was raped twice was made to lick spit off the ground, for reporting the crime. A 15y/o girl was gangraped, mutilated with a rod and her skull was smashed open. But such horrors won't elicit the same kind of outrage like women making reels and using profanity.
