Azərbaycanın regionda ilk dəfə olaraq Ümumdünya Ətraf Mühit Günü ilə bağlı qlobal tədbirə ev sahibliyi etməsi mühüm hadisədir. Bu, Azərbaycanın beynəlxalq səviyyədə ətraf mühitin mühafizəsi ilə bağlı maarifləndirmənin artırılması sahəsində fəal roluna və planetimizi qorumaq naminə kollektiv səylərə verdiyi töhfəsinə yüksək qiymətin göstəricisidir.

On June 5, 2026, CNN World published an article titled "Israel sent troops to Azerbaijan during Iran war as part of secret network across region," where it engaged in information provocation against Azerbaijan by citing anonymous sources.
The Commission against Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats states that this information was disseminated with the intent to undermine the peace process in the Middle East, as well as Azerbaijan's national interests and international standing, and constitutes part of a coordinated disinformation campaign.
It must be noted that this is not the first instance of CNN and similar media outlets conducting a targeted information campaign against Azerbaijan on the eve of significant diplomatic and political events, major international gatherings or processes.
Monitoring conducted by the Commission has identified that immediately following the publication of this article, as a result of the so-called "opportunistic amplification" tactic, the anti-Azerbaijan narrative rapidly spread across the majority of prominent media outlets worldwide, as well as social media platforms including X, Threads, Facebook, and Telegram, thereby assuming the character of a full-scale campaign.
The fact that the authors concluded the story by turning to an individual consistently known for anti-Azerbaijan positions and previously active in media projects funded by the Soros Foundation provides reasonable grounds for inferring the origins of this issue.
As our relevant state agencies have repeatedly stated, no foreign military forces (troops) or bases are present in our country, and the use of the territory of Azerbaijan for any hostile activities directed against third states is categorically precluded.
The Commission against Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats calls upon CNN to either issue a public clarification acknowledging the groundlessness of this article, or to present verifiable facts substantiating its claims.
Failing to do so, CNN, by disseminating materials of broad international reach based on unverified and anonymous sources, will once again confirm its role as an instrument in information operations, false narratives, and disinformation campaigns, all of which are recognized as key components of hybrid threats.

On International Jazz Day, pleased to share A Story About Folkjazz: From West to East, a documentary by 🇸🇪 filmmaker Mikael Silkeberg tracing a unique musical dialogue between 🇸🇪 & 🇦🇿, where jazz meets folk traditions, as a universal language connecting cultures across borders.
About the film:
A Story About Folkjazz: From West to East is a 60-minute documentary tracing a remarkable musical dialogue between Sweden and Azerbaijan - two geographically distant countries connected by culture, improvisation, folk memory, and a shared openness to cultural exchange.
The film begins in Stockholm, where Mikael Silkeberg reflects on how, sixty years ago, the Swedish classic Jazz på Svenska by Jan Johansson blended traditional folk melodies - such as “Ack Värmland du sköna” - with jazz improvisation. The album became a cornerstone of Swedish musical identity and remains the best-selling jazz record in Swedish history.
The documentary then turns to a pivotal moment in 1966, when Jan Johansson performed at the Tallinn Jazz Festival and encountered the Azerbaijani pianist Vagif Mustafazadeh. At the time, Mustafazadeh was developing a revolutionary synthesis of jazz and mugham - Azerbaijan’s ancient modal music tradition, distinguished by microtones, complex structures, and deep improvisation. Their meeting, described as taking place in a “parallel universe,” revealed striking affinities between Swedish folk-jazz and Azerbaijani jazz-mugham: distinct musical languages united by form, emotion, and improvisational freedom.
Travelling east, the film arrives in Baku, a historic meeting point between East and West. Azerbaijan’s unique position at the crossroads of civilizations -between Europe and Asia - has profoundly shaped its musical culture. Mugham absorbed these layers over centuries, and when jazz arrived in the 20th century, Baku became fertile ground for fusion. Despite political restrictions during the Soviet era, jazz flourished as a space of artistic freedom, establishing Baku as a renowned “jazz city,” admired for its vibrant festivals and cosmopolitan spirit.
Through visits to the Vagif Mustafazadeh House Museum and conversations with contemporary musicians, the documentary shows how Mustafazadeh’s legacy continues to inspire new generations. Powerful performances by internationally acclaimed Azerbaijani jazz artists - Aziza Mustafazadeh, İsfar Sarabski, Shahin Novrasli, Emil Afrasiyab, Elchin Shirinov, and Etibar Asadli - demonstrate how jazz-mugham remains a living, evolving art form, rooted in tradition yet unmistakably modern.
A Story About Folkjazz: From West to East reveals jazz not merely as a genre, but as a universal language - one that carries cultural identity across borders and connects West and East through shared human expression.
UN urban indicators highlight the access to public open spaces as an important part of urban quality of life, including the percentage of households living within a 15-minute walk of public open space.
In Baku, parks, gardens, and waterfront public areas reflect this principle in practice and align with the priorities of the Baku Master Plan 2040. They bring nature closer to daily urban life, support recreation and social interaction, and help make neighbourhoods healthier, more inclusive and more liveable.
As Baku prepares to host WUF13, these green public spaces underscore the importance of accessible, people-centred urban environments in shaping sustainable cities.

A comprehensive urban planning approach is being implemented in Aghdam from the ground up. New residential neighbourhoods, social facilities, schools, medical centres, public spaces, and service infrastructure are being designed in line with modern standards. The objective is not only to reconstruct buildings but also to create an inclusive, safe, accessible, and sustainable urban environment for all.

The Commission against Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats of the Milli Majlis has, within the scope of its powers, investigated several factors underlying the disinformation campaigns conducted against Azerbaijan accross digital platforms and various media channels in recent times.
As a result of the analysis and assessment of these unfriendly actions carried out against Azerbaijan, the following circumstances have been identified:
• These activities are coordinated from a single center;
• The hybrid attacks, ongoing for more than one year, constitute part of a multi-layered pressure strategy;
• This anti-Azerbaijan strategy consists of information manipulations calculated to mislead public opinion, create polarization within society, and undermine trust in the state institutions.
The full restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and the strengthening of its sovereign will under the leadership of the Victorious Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, as well as Azerbaijan’s contribution to global energy security, the creation of transport corridors, the making of independent decisions on regional development issues, and the further strengthening of international partnerships, have led to the country being subjected to targeted campaigns and purposeful disinformation containing baseless accusations.
The Republic of Azerbaijan will remain resolute in protecting its rights against all forms of hybrid threats and the disruption of the information space.
In light of the ongoing disinformation campaign, the Commission against Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats calls on Azerbaijani citizens to reference and trust only information provided by state bodies and officials of Azerbaijan.
A meeting of the Group of Friends (GoF) of UN-Habitat, Sustainable Urbanization and the New Urban Agenda was held on 29 January.
Within the framework of the meeting, a presentation on the Thirteenth Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) was delivered by the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, providing information on the Forum’s theme, key events, and the preparation process for WUF13.
