Thomas Sowell on the truth about the Great Depression:
“There’s this narrative out there that the reason we had mass unemployment in the 1930s was because the market failed.”
“It so happens that for the 12 months following the stock market crash, we never hit double digits of unemployment. Unemployment peaked at 9 percent two months after the crash and started going down.”
“The unemployment rate was down to 6.3 percent when the federal government figured it had to intervene. And that’s when the downward movement reversed and we never saw 6.3 percent again for the next decade.”
“It’s clear as crystal that the disaster came after federal intervention.”
@feelsdesperate Democrats are and have been moving farther left, and this is the result. The only way they can get out of this hole is to get federal funding. Make doing so illegal, and they will eventually learn the consequences of electing these people.
@ThomasEWoods@tommyboy0690 He even offered to do so - if they could account for the money spent using standard accounting practices, like what are used in actual businesses. They refused.
Kids from @SuccessCharters schools rank #1 in their state in math.
Why do these brown and black students do so well?
Because their school innovates in ways government-run schools don’t.
HAVA was supposed to help Americans vote. The data suggests it helped Boards of Elections generate millions of illegal registrations instead. A thread. 🧵
One of the great political moves by the left in recent years has been convincing a large portion of America that "the rich" don’t pay taxes and it’s all poor people, when the exact opposite is true.
The Top 1% pay 46% of all income taxes.
The Top 10% pay 76% of all income taxes.
As someone who grew up in the San Joaquin Valley, this is about the most unsurprising thing ever. Not him being a rapist specifically, but The Beloved Labor Leader being a piece of shit was well known.
Chavez's dudes used to beat the fuck out of illegals who were cutting in on their gigs and leave their unconscious bodies in our drainage ditches.
@JJ_McCullough@feelsdesperate They've been so used to Americans not paying attention to them for so long, when it actually happens, they don't know what to do. It's a "dog catches car" situation.
@BradRTorgersen@CodyFandom_ This is it. No one cares if the characters are "insert whatever here" if it's a good story, with good characterization and a good plot. Throwing "insert whatever here" in and expecting that to make up for a lack of all the above is ludicrous and a failure.
@GigaBasedDad You can notice all these unionized actors never push for their compensation to go directly to their union, to be distributed equally to all actors. Yet, they want everyone else to get that treatment. Wonder why that is?
