A rare and remarkable sighting for Assam's wildlife.
For the first time, a Black Panther has been captured on a camera trap in Lakhimpur's Dulung Reserve Forest.
The presence of this elusive predator highlights the ecological significance of our reserve forests and reflects the success of sustained conservation efforts in protecting Assam's wildlife habitats.
Proud moment for Assam!
Its a matter of great happiness that the following important elements of Assamese culture have received the GI tag - Taking Assam's rich culture to the global stage.

The annual IPL television rights are valued at 1.6 billion US dollars (USD), roughly Rs 14,669 crores at the current exchange rate.
The annual rights for the premier Indian league (ISL) of the world's most popular sport just went for around Rs 2.5 crore excluding production costs.
In effect, an IPL is worth over 5500 ISLs. If India is to take itself seriously as a sporting nation, this bizarrely skewed ratio has to come down.
So former army chief General Naravane as yet unpublished book becomes the latest battleground for the Modi vs Rahul ‘war’ inside parliament.
Back story: Advance orders for the book had begun in December 2023 and then the publishers pulled out at last moment and book was reportedly subject to a defence ministry review. Rahul Gandhi wanted to quote from the book in parliament , govt objected. LS speaker agreed that an unpublished book cannot be quoted in parliament.
Forget the parliament standoff, here is my simple qs: what is so sensitive in a book written by an army chief of great integrity that should embarrass the country’s leadership? (From what one gathers, the book is mainly full of praise for PM Modi). And if there is something so sensitive, why not clarify reasons for not publishing the book instead of allowing speculation to grow . Finally, do we only want anodyne memoirs or rather books by those in leadership positions that will enrich our understanding of India? Think. 🙏
Delhi | In a landmark decision, the Supreme Court has ruled that the right to menstrual health and hygiene is part of the Right to Life guaranteed by Article 21 and the Right to Free and Compulsory Education guaranteed by Article 21 A of the Constitution.
Thus, it has directed that all schools in India, whether private or government, in both urban and rural areas, must provide free of cost biodegradable sanitary napkins of the highest safety and hygienic standards to girls.
A bench of Justices JB Pardiwala and R Mahadevan noted that all authorities shall also ensure the establishment of menstrual hygiene management facilities in schools.
The Court, in its ruling, also stated that directions with regard to the disposal of sanitary waste have also been issued by it, in its detailed judgement (yet to be uploaded on the website).
“Before parting with the issue, we want to say that this pronouncement is not just for stakeholders of the legal system. It is also meant for classrooms where girls hesitate to ask for help. It is for teachers who want to help but are not able to due to the lack of resources…Progress is measured by how we protect the vulnerable”, Justice Pardiwala observed before parting with the judgment.

Satyamev Jayate. Together, we have won..
I am deeply grateful to the Central Government for its timely, decisive and compassionate intervention in enforcing the removal of the “10-minute delivery” branding from quick-commerce platforms. This is a much needed step because when “10 minutes” is printed on a rider’s tshirt/ jacket/ bag and a timer runs on the customer’s screen, the pressure is real, constant, and dangerous.
This step will help ensure safety of the delivery riders, and everyone who shares our roads.
Over the past months, I have spoken to hundreds of delivery partners. Many are overworked, underpaid and risking their life to fulfil an unrealistic promise.
I thank every citizen who stood with us - you stood firmly on the side of human life, safety & dignity.
And to every gig worker - you’re not alone, we’re all with you.
