Shifting Baseline Syndrome
is the idea that each generation accepts the world they grow up with as “normal.” When change happens rapidly over a few decades, people forget what the place was like before.
As a result, they underestimate how much it has changed.
An idea can fructify, sustain, and scale only if it is politically acceptable, socially desirable, technologically feasible, financially viable, administratively doable, and judicially tenable.
