Saw this Elliot guy video jokingly mocking those ig logo designers. Its getting a bit of hate but the video is spot on accurate. These design influencers all be doing the same formulaic reels. Its one of the reasons i dont like logging onto IG heh

as a designer you really have to learn to question everything. for example, the first step of my design process is questioning whether i should’ve become a designer in the first place.
part of the human experience is going through a phase known as "wanting an iPad" most will pass unscathed but the weak of heart will spend $599 on a pointless YouTube watching machine
@TurtlHurdl@AGoldmund i will say sneakers as an article of clothing haven't gone anywhere. sneaker trends are still in full force, but now people have stopped caring about resale prices, hype or collaborations, hence killing the sneakerhead market
@TurtlHurdl@AGoldmund brands oversaturated the market with "rare" sneakers and hyped releases, which led to fatigue among consumers. there was also a cultural shift in mens fashion away from branded streetwear toward a preppy/tailored style.
@AGoldmund also (IMO) these things tend to explode in popularity whenever there's economic uncertainty or a looming recession. at it's core, it's cheap gambling. similarly, blind boxes have exploded in popularity (see: labubu)
@AGoldmund while pokemon exploded in popularity during COVID, a lot of the hype was from influencers buying rare vintage cards/packs, which is inaccessible for the regular person or scalpers looking for a quick buck
also, there's also new pokemon card game on mobile (TCG pocket)
