It’s embarrassing how my country has become a PR reset button for controversial celebrities from other countries yaiks. What do I expect? Accountability has never really been our thing. Just look at our politicians.

Shin Min Ah Prayed Carrying an Offering of Rice During Kim Woo Bin’s Battle with Nasopharyngeal Cancer… Wedding Officiant Beopryun Sunim’s
Beopryun Sunim presided over the couple’s wedding ceremony held on December 20 at the Shilla Hotel in Jangchung-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, offering his blessings for their new journey together. He is known as a spiritual guide who supported Kim Woo Bin during his battle with nasopharyngeal cancer in 2017. Since then, the couple has continued to attend Beopryun Sunim’s lectures and share meaningful conversations with him.
Through Jungto Society’s program “A Monk’s Day,” Beopryun Sunim shared the words he offered to the couple during the ceremony. He began by saying “First of all, congratulations on your marriage. I have known the two of you for a long time. Min Ah has a warm and kind heart and for more than ten years she has consistently supported children from underprivileged backgrounds. She has also provided significant help to North Korean defectors who resettled in South Korea. Many children who arrive with their families struggle to adapt and often face bullying at school and Min Ah has continually supported after school programs that care for these children.”
He continued “Woo Bin once went through a very difficult time due to health issues. During that period, Min Ah carried an offering of rice on her head and went to pray before Avalokitesvara at Mount Namsan in Gyeongju. Transcending religious boundaries, she prayed sincerely for him. After that, Woo Bin regained his health and today the two of them stand here, hand in hand, promising to share their lives together. This is truly the result of a deep and meaningful bond.”
Beopryun Sunim also offered thoughtful advice about marriage “Living together is not easy. If only the feelings of today could last forever. As time passes, differences in perspective will arise, and conflicts will follow. Many people believe that because marriage is based on love, spouses must be the same. As a result, marriage can sometimes feel like a restriction on personal freedom, creating the desire to walk away. To overcome this, married couples must not only seek warmth through mutual dependence, but also deeply respect each other’s individual freedom.”
He emphasized the couple’s social responsibility as public figures “You are both widely loved by the public. Therefore, any conflict between you does not end as a personal matter but can affect society as a whole. Along with the honor you carry comes a responsibility to live in a way that does not disappoint those who love and support you.”
He concluded by reminding them that marriage should not be a form of restraint, but a path toward greater freedom one that is built on respect, understanding, and responsibility not only as spouses, but also as parents if they have children in the future. “If you keep these principles in mind as you move forward, the happiness of today will continue and grow into even greater happiness in the years to come.”
