H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, held official talks with H.E. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Muscat, as part of his official visit to the Sultanate.

The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and advancing cooperation across key sectors in a manner that reinforces the longstanding partnership and shared interests between the two brotherly countries. The two sides also exchanged views on regional developments, particularly in the Horn of Africa, underscoring the importance of coordinated regional and international efforts to promote security, stability, and sustainable development.

H.E. Minister Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi reaffirmed Oman’s firm support for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, as well as its principled position of non-recognition of any entities outside the framework of the Somali state. H.E. Somalia’s Ministry of Defence has confirmed that the Somali National Army, supported by AUSSOM forces, has successfully seized the towns of Daarusalaam and Mubaarak in the Lower Shabelle region. These locations are not ordinary settlements. They are critical strongholds that will serve as launchpads for sustained military operations as government forces push deeper into areas that militants once believed were beyond reach.

Al Shabaab had been intensifying preparations for a new Ramadan offensive aimed at striking SNA and AUSSOM bases across Middle and Lower Shabelle. Instead, they were caught off guard by a swift, coordinated, and preemptive assault that shattered their plans and forced them into a defensive posture. The militants are now scrambling, retreating toward the remote borders of Jubba and Shabelle, abandoning momentum and exposing their weakening grip on the region.
