this government’s priorities are genuinely fucking disgusting. just two weeks ago, hundreds of lady shri ram college students were on the streets protesting for basic rights, demanding functional CCTV cameras, better lighting, pink booths, security especially around gate 7 & the back gate. women were on the streets demanding basic safety and the government headed by rekha gupta couldn’t show the same urgency.
but just a day before the Jantar Mantar protest on 10th october, suddenly there’s an order to install 1,000+ cameras around the protest site. THOUSANDS. yeah they successfully installed more than thousand cameras in just 2 days. apparently, the government knows how to mobilise resources overnight when it comes to keeping an eye on citizens who raise their voices, but becomes deaf, dumb and paralysed when young women from one of the finest institution of this country demands protection in the nation’s capital.
they have the machinery to watch you, the manpower to stop you and the resources to control & suppress you. what they apparently lack is the urgency to protect you.
the most fucking shameful part? delhi has a woman chief minister, yet women’s safety seems to be the last thing on this government’s priority list. when women demand protection, the system goes silent. when citizens prepare to protest, suddenly the cameras, barricades and police are ready. if a woman becoming chief minister doesn’t make women’s safety a priority in nation’s capital, then what the fuck was the point of having one? and some of you spineless clowns still have the fucking audacity to defend this government & their spineless actions?!!
Nana Patekar is no more.
I have lost not merely an exceptional artist, but an extraordinary human being and a dear friend , someone whose warmth and affection touched everyone around him.
We spoke just eight days ago. I could never have imagined that it would be our last conversation.
His last words to me were: “Love you, Bala.”
Those words will stay with me for the rest of my life.
Some people leave behind memories. A few leave behind a part of themselves in our lives.
Nana was one of them.
Goodbye, my friend. You will be deeply missed, and forever remembered.
